The final show of 2019 for Discovery Wrestling (DW) will see them once again head to the Jam House in Edinburgh, Scotland, as they get set to present their very first Christmas Disco. It’s a fitting name for the show, seeing as it’s been quite the year for the promotion – they celebrated their fifth anniversary, a new Y Division Champion was crowned after a staggering reign that lasted over two years, and some huge names have made the trip to Edinburgh, from David Starr to El Phantasmo to Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP). They’ve got every right to be holding a disco. Let’s face it though, what’s a disco like without a little bit of the violence?
Nina Samuels vs Kasey
Discovery’s women’s division is booming right now. With “The Session Moth” Martina serving as the current Women’s Champion, and the likes of Sammii Jayne, Angel Hayze, and Ashley Vega all making regular appearances, it’s provided a platform for some of the UK’s best up and coming female talent to come to Edinburgh, and make a name for themselves. Someone who’s no stranger to Discovery is Nina Samuels. The NXT UK star’s time in Discovery has been a bit of an odd one, as she constantly demanded opportunities at the Women’s Championship, only to refuse to compete in the matches once they were granted. In fairness, her reasoning was because she wanted one on one shots at the title as opposed to multi-woman affairs, but a title shot is a title shot regardless. She’ll be facing Kasey here, with The Mother of Chaos coming off the back of losing her Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) Women’s World Championship at Fear & Loathing XII to Aivil. She’s had three opportunities at the Discovery Women’s Championship thus far, all in unsuccessful attempts, but she did manage to make it to the final two in this year’s Disco Derby Match before being eliminated by Martina. This is a perfect opportunity for either woman to put their name in the hat to challenge The Session Moth as we approach 2020.

BT Gunn vs Cody Hall
Something that Discovery management always prides itself on is bringing in some of the finest international talents from around the world to mix it up with the stars. Over the years, we’ve seen Mikey Whiplash face current NXT star Matt Riddle, the recently-retired Michael Chase going up against former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) cruiserweight Juventud Guerrera, and Team Discovery (Joe Coffey, BT Gunn, and Lewis Girvan) battling All Elite Wrestling (AEW) head honchos The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)). Now, we’ve got BT Gunn facing a former Bullet Club member in the form of Cody Hall, son of the legendary WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall/Razor Ramon. The Kliq Kid is no stranger to the British wrestling scene, having previously competed for promotions including Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE), British Wrestling Revolution (BWR), and International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom (IPW: UK). He finds himself squaring off with The Oddity, a staple of the major Scottish promotions. At the Jam House of Horrors, Gunn was scheduled to face Joe Coffey, but was ultimately replaced by Kenny Williams after suffering an injury. With BT now cleared to compete though, it’s time for him to get back in the hunt for the Y Division Championship, which starts against Cody Hall.

The Filthy Generation (Stevie Boy & The Kings of Catch (Aspen Faith & Lewis Girvan)) vs Pure Dead Brilliant (Kid Fite, Lou King Sharp & Krieger)
At the start of November, a huge Fatal Four Way Match saw The Anti-Fun Police (Chief Deputy Dunne and Los Federales Santos Jr.) come out on top over The Kings of Catch (Aspen Faith and Lewis Girvan), Pure Dead Brilliant (Lou King Sharp and Krieger), and the team of Kid Fite and Discovery official Sean McLaughlin. Following that, Faith, Girvan, Sharp, and Krieger all blamed each other for allowing Dunne and Santos to have the opportunity to sneak in a win, which has since resulted in a six man tag team match being set up for the Christmas Disco. Kid Fite will rejoin his PDB pals, while the current ICW World Heavyweight Champion Stevie Boy will make his Discovery debut to team with his Filthy Generation comrades. It’s a shame Discovery don’t currently have Tag Team Championships because The Kings of Catch, and Lou King Sharp and Krieger would be more than suitable to the role of representing Discovery’s doubles division. That aside, this is set to be one hell of a six man tag team match.

No Disqualifications Match: Johnny Lions vs Andy Wild
In 2018, Andy Wild was the man to beat in Discovery Wrestling. He won the first annual Disco Derby Match, he won the second annual Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational Tournament, and he had incredible encounters with the likes of Bad Bones, Liam Thomson, and Zack Gibson. However, after failing to win the Y Division Championship from Joe Coffey this past January, The Dad Bod God has refused to appear on any and all Discovery Wrestling events. So, when Andy’s close friend Johnny Lions revealed he was going to be returning to the company at Year Five ahead of his retirement, The Tenacious One had just one plan in mind – reform The Wild Lions. Unfortunately for him, Wild wasn’t as keen, leading to Lions’ former Revolution partner Damien stepping in alongside Johnny in a losing effort against The Kings of Catch. Johnny showed his true colours after this, ambushing The Revolutionary both in a post-match interview and also after Damien’s bout with Fraser Thomas at the Jam House of Horrors. The final straw came when Johnny attacked Andy at the Fife Pro Wrestling Asylum (FPWA) training facility, where both men coach the students. Finally, Lions had gotten his wish. Andy Wild is coming back to the Jam House, but he’s only agreeing to the match on one condition – no disqualifications. With Johnny’s final match set for December 13th in Perth, this will be the end of his Discovery career, and what a match it is go out on.

The Final Showdown: Theo Doros vs Christopher Saynt
It’s now over a year in the making, but Theo Doros and Christopher Saynt will finally settle their differences for the final time at the Christmas Disco. Ever since late 2018, Doros and Saynt have been unable to see eye to eye, thanks in part to the war within The House of Saynt between Theo and Grant McIvor. At 48 Months Later, those two would go head to head, with The Superior Cypriot defeating McIvor to send The Gazelle packing from the HoS. Despite that, Doros would also choose to move on to pastures new, assaulting Saynt to signify his departure from Saynt’s stable. Since then, nothing or nobody has been able to stop these two from waging war. In the past 12 months, we’ve seen them go to war in an Unsanctioned Match, we’ve seen Christopher Saynt suspended from Discovery for his vicious actions towards his former ally, and we’ve seen them handpick each other’s opponents in a Pick Your Poison Match, but the tensions only got more and more heated between them. At the Jam House of Horrors, Saynt and Sensational Scenebirds partner Emily Hayden would defeat Doros and Ayesha Raymond, meaning he got to choose the stipulation for their final match against one another inside a Discovery Wrestling ring. Wisely, he’s chosen not to unveil that stipulation until the night of December 1st, putting the current Reckless Intent Wrestling (RI) Heavyweight Champion at a severe disadvantage seeing as he’s unaware of what he’s stepping into.

Y Division Championship – Steel Cage Match: Joe Hendry (c) vs Joe Coffey
At Year Five, Joe Hendry shocked the Discovery Wrestling fanbase as he ended the Y Division Championship reign of Joe Coffey after a mammoth 750 days with The Iron God at the top of the throne. Now, the NXT UK star will receive his championship rematch, but there’s a bit of a twist this time around. To ensure the action remains confined to the ring, the squared circle will be surrounded by a steel cage for the first time in Discovery Wrestling history. The bombshell was revealed by management’s Alan Smith after Coffey was victorious over Kenny Williams at the Jam House of Horrors, an announcement that was met with a rapturous ovation from the Discovery faithful. Away from Discovery, both champion and challenger have been lighting the world on fire, with Hendry (alongside Dalton Castle) tearing it up in Ring of Honor (ROH), whereas Coffey recently took the reigning ICW World Heavyweight Champion Stevie Boy to the limit on night two of Fear & Loathing XII. It’s looking like another cracking main event, but is it possible we could see Joe Coffey once again rise to the top of the pecking order in Discovery Wrestling?
