Preview: PROGRESS – Chapter 91 Prog On The Tyne

PROGRESS make their way to Newcastle for Chapter 91.  Irish stars More Than Hype make their PROGRESS debut while fellow Irishman Jordan Devlin takes on Ilja Dragunov in a dream clash between two of Europe’s best wrestlers.  All of this and much more will go down at PROGRESS Chapter 91.

Candyfloss vs Holidead

Candyfloss beat Lana Austin at Chapter 90 but after the match Holidead made her presence felt by laying out both Candyfloss and Austin.  Now just one week later Candyfloss looks to defeat her assailant.  The young Candyfloss faces a tough challenge against a world traveled performer like Holidead who has competed in Japan for Stardom as well as WOW, SHINE, and SHIMMER in the US.

More Than Hype (LJ Cleary, Nathan Martin & Darren Kearney) vs Do Not Resuscitate (Chuck Mambo, Spike Trivet & Present William Eaver)

DNR’s mission statement since day one has been to rid PROGRESS of the “dinosaurs” so they could take their spot on the card.  With some of those PROGRESS veterans gone they must EARN these spots and to do so they have to beat three of Ireland’s hottest upcoming talents More Than Hype.  Former OTT Gender Neutral Champion LJ Cleary and former Irish tag team champions Darren Kearney and Nathan Martin are three best friends whose bond allows them to form a formidable team.  All three are talented in their own right as evidenced by Cleary’s previous GN title win as well as his Irish Junior Heavyweight title run and Kearney currently holding the No Limits Wrestling Championship (not the OTT one).  Six of the best the UK and Irish wrestling scene has to offer are going to collide here as the future of PROGRESS is on display

Connor Mills vs Jurn Simmons

Mills has been on something of a losing streak but has come up against some really talented opposition during this run.  Jurn Simmons promises to be no different as the former Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw) champion returns to PROGRESS.  Simmons was once known for his eccentric entrance but ever since a blood feud that saw him lose his hair has become a bruising monster that uses his size and power to his advantage.  The power and experience of Simmons should see him get a win here but Mills will give his best as always.

Paul Robinson vs Primate

Paul Robinson enjoys violence and takes a sadistic pleasure in inflicting pain on his opponent but PROGRESS may have just found his match in Primate.  A man that really lives up to his name Primate is a former two-time Defiant Hardcore champion that loves to brawl and can be as violent as necessary to get the job done.

David Starr vs Brent Banks

Banks impressed in his debut against Jordan Devlin at Chapter 90.  He gets another opportunity to impress against Super Strong Style 16 winner David Starr.  Starr is right up there with Devlin as one of the best wrestlers in Europe and will provide Banks with an entirely new challenge at PROGRESS Chapter 91.

Unified World Championship: WALTER (C) vs Eddie Kingston

PROGRESS Chapter 91

This will be a fight.  Indie wrestling veteran Eddie Kingston has made a career out of being a fighter and as he approaches the end of his career he is taking on everyone and giving them the best fight of their life.  In WALTER he faces an absolute behemoth that is on a roll.  He unified the PROGRESS World and ATLAS titles and currently holds the NXT UK Championship, to add to that he has some of the sickest chops in wrestling.  These chops won’t phase Kingston though as he will take the hit and probably enjoy it.  This match happened all the way back in 2010 in a contest won by WALTER.  Both men have changed and improved since then so the result of this one is up in the air.

Ilja Dragunov vs Jordan Devlin

Two of Europe’s best wrestlers meet in a dream matchup to decide the number one contender for the PROGRESS unified title.  Both of these men have had legendary feuds with WALTER in other companies and should they win they would be on a potential collision course with the Austrian giant once again.  A first time ever meeting between two of Europe’s best all for the opportunity to become PROGRESS champion.
