It was another short IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship reign for Roppongi 3K as SHO and YOH lost the titles to El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori at the New Japan Pro Wrestling Kizuna Road Day 3. This means Bullet Club know holds three sets of tag team titles with The Guerrillas Of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa) already holding the IWGP tag team championships and the Ring Of Honor Wrestling (ROH) tag team championships. ELP won the titles for his team with CR2 (Canadian Revolution) on YOH but Ryusuke Taguchi came out to help Roppongi 3K from a post-match beating.
El Phantasmo has already had a great run in his short time in NJPW, gaining accolades for his matches in the Best Of The Super Juniors tournament against Will Ospreay. ELP comes from Rev Pro in the UK as the British Cruiserweight champion and his addition to the Juniors division has rubbed Robbie Eagles the wrong way. In a backstage promo, ELP claimed that he would be gunning for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight tag team championships with former IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion, Taiji Ishimori, and that’s exactly what happened. Bullet Club’s Eagles doesn’t seem too pleased and may look for a partner of his own to take on the new champions. SHO really impressed in the Best Of The Super Juniors tournament as well so time will tell if the singles division is in Roppongi 3K’s sights or if frustration is mounting from these quick title changes. For now though, El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori are your IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.
