WrestleMania 35 Preview: Winner Takes All – Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Becky Lynch

WrestleMania 35

The 2019 Royal Rumble saw former 2x SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Becky Lynch last eliminating Charlotte Flair to earn her right as the #1 contender to any championship that she pleases. On the 28th of January edition of Monday Night Raw, Lynch decided on that night to challenge Raw Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey. Since prior to Survivor Series 2018, Rousey and Lynch has been a match the public wanted to see after the announcement of their then-Champion vs Champion match post-WWE Evolution. However, that match would be put on hold after an accident in the ring that had the women of Team Smackdown Live invade Monday Night Raw and this would have Lynch miss Survivor Series entirely. Enter Charlotte Flair, as Lynch chose the “Flair Heiress” to compete against Rousey at the event which was a classic match despite ending in a Flair disqualification. This would NOT be the last either one of these two see Rousey. At TLC, Rousey interfered in a TLC match costing both Lynch and Flair the championship which gave Asuka her first main title on the main roster, which gave either party the motivation to get back at the Raw Women’s Champion.

As the storyline fast forward a bit, it was noticeable that Lynch was dealing with a knee injury and both Stephanie McMahon and Triple H urged Lynch to get better, however, Lynch would refuse medical attention. The McMahon-Levesque regime would say that if Lynch doesn’t apologize for her actions of defiance it would affect her WrestleMania 35 shot. Unfortunately, Lynch’s actions would ultimately cost her that WrestleMania shot she won and Mr. McMahon would give her shot to Charlotte Flair changing the landscape of WrestleMania 35.

However, it didn’t stop “The Man” interjecting herself back into the picture with attacks toward both champion and challenger. Stephanie McMahon would give Lynch one more chance with the obstacle being Lynch’s biggest rival in Flair. Moving onward to Fastlane, an injured Becky Lynch would ultimately win due to disqualification as Rousey punches Lynch causing Charlotte to lose and making the match a Triple Threat Match. On the 26th of March edition of Smackdown Live, Flair, in a stellar performance against Asuka, took the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship as she takes her eighth reign as champion beating Trish Stratus’ record of seven Women’s titles. On the April fools day edition of Raw, Stephanie McMahon would make it official as a winner takes all stipulation would be added to the WrestleMania main event.

The key of this matchup is who has more in the tank. All three women are incredibly talented on a wrestling standpoint. Lynch’s strengths are her experience compared to the other opponents, her technical prowess and her adaptability with any opponent. Flair’s strengths are her athleticism, flexibility and her agility in long stretches. Rousey despite being only a year in the business, her strengths is her actual strength, her unorthodox striking ability and her judo experience as well, remember Rousey was a Bronze Medalist in the 2008 Summer Games for Judo. All three in big moments have come in the clutch when it mattered and choosing a winner could really be a tough one. However, with the adversity that Lynch has faced, it makes the most sense for Lynch to leave MetLife Stadium as champion. In this match, you have to look at the competitors and the fall guy and Charlotte Flair will be the fall guy to maintain Rousey’s credibility in the case of an actual Lynch vs Rousey match in the future.

Winner: Becky Lynch
