The Hart Foundation Inducted Into The WWE Hall of Fame

It had long been rumored but on Monday Yahoo Sports broke the news: the original Hart Foundation of Bret “Hitman” Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart are going into the WWE Hall of Fame, Class of 2019. With the induction, Bret Hart joins fellow inductees this year Shawn Michaels and Booker T as 2x Hall of Famers, bringing the total to four (Ric Flair was previously the only 2x Hall of Famer, as a singles and as part of the Four Horsemen).

Real life brothers in law, Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart first became acquainted when Neidhart joined Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1979. Originally opponents, they began to team together regularly in 1982.

When the WWF acquired Stampede Wrestling in 1984, it wasn’t long before both men were called up to the WWF’s roster. Initially starting as singles, they were reteamed together in 1985 as The Hart Foundation, lead by manager Jimmy Hart.

The duo would hold the WWF World Tag Team titles on two lengthy occasions, for 274 days in 1987 and again for 209 days in 1990. Shortly after their last run as champs, Bret would transition to more of a singles competitor, while Neidhart would team with his youngest brother-in-law, Owen Hart.
