Kazuchika Okada Wins New Japan Cup

“The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada won his second ever New Japan Cup defeating SANADA in the final of the 2019 tournament.  It is only Okada’s third time taking part in the tournament as he usually holds championship gold, which excludes him from eligibility.

Okada bested Tomohiro Ishii, Mikey Nicholls, Will Ospreay and Michael Elgin on his way to the final as he looked to be back on top form after a rough few months after losing his title at Dominion last year

Okada will now try to win back his IWGP Heavyweight Championship from Jay White who he has yet to defeat.  He has a long history with White as “The Switchblade” was the reason Gedo turned on Okada and is the man who has beaten him twice in singles matches over the last year.
