Fenix Suffers Injury in CMLL, Out For Remainder of Year

Last night, AAA Mega Champion Fenix (aka Rey Fenix) battled CMLL standout El Barbaro Cavernario in the Leyenda de Plata 2018 tournament final at CMLL Super Viernes in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match. While Barbaro won the match 2-1, the result wasn’t the bad part. Fenix took to his Instagram today to announce that he suffered a groin injury during the match and is now forced to cancel his appearances for the remainder of 2018 to heal the injury.

A tough blow for the former Lucha Underground Champion, as he was a huge part of the television storylines for both IMPACT Wrestling and Major League Wrestling (MLW), as well as his appearances with a multitude of other indies in the US and Mexico. It’s not known when in the match he suffered the injury, but he did take a nasty bump at one point when a suicide dive resulted in a miscommunication with Barbaro and he landed flat on his back outside the ring.
