Indie Tag Team Champions Make IMPACT Debut at Las Vegas Tapings (SPOILER)

IMPACT Wrestling began taping the final episodes of 2018 in Las Vegas on Sunday night and there were some notable debuts with the company. But perhaps one of the best pieces of news out of the night was that PWG World Tag Team Champions The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz) were officially paired together in IMPACT Wrestling for the first time. According to reports from those in attendance, The Rascalz defeated the duo of West Coast indie star Chris Bey (Maverick Pro, Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, PCW ULTRA) and former ROH wrestler Mike Sydal (who also competes as Ken Dharma).

While this marks the first official IMPACT taping featuring The Rascalz as an action tag team, this is not the first time either member has appeared with IMPACT. Dezmond Xavier has been a huge addition to the X-Division since he debuted in the spring of 2017, winning the IMPACT Super X Cup that year by defeating NJPW’s Taiji Ishimori in the final. His longtime tag partner Zachary Wentz has also been used by IMPACT, but in a far smaller capacity. He worked a couple random tag matches last year (once teaming with Jason Cade against OvE’s Crist Brothers, then with Jon Bolen against LAX), and then this year worked one of the Toronto TV tapings. Out of those, he was featured in a one-on-one against Matt Sydal, and then teamed with other Ohio products Ace Austin and fellow Rascal Trey Miguel in a 6-man against OvE. Xavier and Wentz did appear on the IMPACT Twitch special that was produced with Wrestling Revolver, Penta Does Iowa, where they teamed with Matt Sydal against OvE, but that was booked by Revolver.

The duo of Xavier and Wentz were originally known as Scarlet & Graves, taking their tag team name from the Ohio stable they were a part of alongside Dave Crist and JT Davidson. Earlier this year, they broke away and started their own unit, The Rascalz, that also features two more emerging indie superstars in Trey Miguel and Myron Reed. As well as being the current PWG World Tag Team Champions, The Rascalz (Wentz & Xavier) are also the current Wrestling Revolver Tag Team Champions, as well as former 2x Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) Tag Team Champions and All American Wrestling (AAW) Tag Team Champions.
