Joey Janela Out For Minimum One Year, Announces LA Show

Just over a week ago, indie superstar Joey Janela was seriously injured when he landed wrong on a move to the outside, injuring his knee. While he expected to be out for some considerable time due to the multiple issues and injuries to the knee – including a “completely destroyed” PCL and MCL, he was optimistic it wouldn’t be as severe as it looked. Unfortunately, after he met with his surgeon today, it was. In fact, it was worse.

With it looking like he now won’t be back until at least the end of 2019 (or early 2020 depending on when the surgeries start), it’s bad news for fans of pro wrestling’s “bad boy”. Due to the length of the injury, World Wrestling Network (WWN), the parent company of EVOLVE, Shine and Full Impact Pro, also announced today that they have stripped Janela of his WWN Championship and will hold a tournament in EVOLVE on October 28. “WWN officials have no choice but to strip Janela of the WWN Championship,” WWN officials said. “We wish Joey a full and quick recovery. We will welcome him back whenever he is ready.”

But luckily there was some good news on the Joey Janela front. Last night, Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), the New Jersey based promotion that Janela is a featured performer with, announced the next installment in Janela’s series of events, following Joey Janela’s Spring Break on WrestleMania weekend, and this summer’s Joey Janela’s Lost In New YorkJoey Janela and GCW are teaming up once again for a fall event, as GCW debuts on the West Coast, with Joey Janela’s LA Confidential. No matches have been announced as of yet, but so far every one of the Janela series has been a fun romp with some truly unique “dream matches”.
