While it’s already been announced that Cody Rhodes would be facing former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis in a rematch of their All In match that saw Cody Rhodes join his father Dusty Rhodes as an NWA World Champion, he’ll have one title defense prior to the October NWA PPV for the 70th Anniversary. Cody’s first title defense was announced on Sunday evening by the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and it will be on Saturday September 29 during the Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor XVI weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cody’s first opponent in his defence of the NWA World Heavyweight Champion will be indie superstar Willie Mack, whose become one of the top stars on Lucha Underground, as well as stints on the indies with the likes of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Championship Wrestling From Hollywood (CWFH) and House of Hardcore (HOH). A product of the West Coast indie scene, Willie Mack got his big break with Alternative Wrestling Show (ASW) as well as other California promotions like Empire Wrestling Federation (EWF), SoCal Pro, PWG and CWFH. In 2014 he was signed to a WWE developmental deal but was released after his medical showed some issues. Willie Mack regrouped and joined the cast of Lucha Underground, becoming one of its breakout stars. He’s also worked with The Crash Lucha in Mexico, as well as other top US indies like WrestleCircus, Bar Wrestling, and PCW ULTRA. He’s currently on a tour with Dragon Gate in Japan, and is the current HOH Internet Champion and CWFH Heritage Champion.
