Danhausen asked, and his wish was granted for what could be the most unique match to take place at WWE SummerSlam since, well, 2001.
Dominik Mysterio is no stranger to “on a pole” matches. He made his debut in one 21 years ago, as his custody was decided in perhaps the craziest way any feuding parents have ever determined a child’s living arrangements in history. Once again, Mysterio finds his fate on top of a pole, only this time it is to regain his human monies and end his curse in what is sure to be a first-of-its-kind match at WWE SummerSlam 2026.
SummerSlam 2026: Danhausen Challenges Dominik Mysterio to a “Human Monies on a Pole Match”
Danhausen and Dominik Mysterio have been engaged in quite the feud, one that goes back to Danhausen’s Raw debut, in fact. On that night, Danhausen met Judgment Day, and after Mysterio implied bad things would happen to Danhausen if he stepped up to him, Danhausen responded by cursing Mysterio.
Shortly after, Mysterio tried to pay his curser to instead curse Oba Femi before their King of the Ring matchup. Danhausen took the human monies but didn’t do the job, proceeding to double down on his Judgment Day curse instead after Liv Morgan attempted to get involved. In the ensuing weeks, Danhausen has been a thorn in JD McDonagh and Mysterio’s sides.
It led up to Saturday Night’s Main Event as Danhausen, after getting beaten down by Judgment Day’s resident jerks, revealed his mystery partner and used his cloning machine to produce Katthausen aka the New York Knicks’ Karl Anthony Towns. Towns hit a few chokeslams that Mysterio and McDonagh sold beautifully. In the end, it was the Champhausens who emerged victorious, allowing Danhausen to continue his whirlwind victory lap of helping the Knicks win the NBA Championship due to some cursing and uncursing of his own.
Mysterio has been trying to get uncursed, likely because he saw what happened to the Miz and Kit Wilson, but that outcome aside, he also just wants his money back. The very nice, very evil one has been reluctant to give a refund, which leads us to Monday Night Raw.
Judgment Day Interrupt the Rock Concert to Build SummerSlam 2026 Showdown
The very nice, very evil one was in the ring with Joe Hendry for a special rock concert where the two debuted their new song, “I believe that you are cursed.” The minihausens and the Los Angeles Clippers’ dance squad joined in before boxer Ryan Garcia entered the fray. Garcia had been shown ringside earlier in the night and again in a promo for his upcoming fight with Zuffa Boxing. Garcia eventually entered the ring and grabbed a guitar.
He seemed like he might join the concert, but instead, he showed his true colors, taking out Hendry with the instrument before Mysterio and McDonagh rushed the ring. The two took out Danhausen and some minihausens before Mysterio landed a frog splash on his SummerSlam opponent and McDonagh powerslammed Hendry. Garcia stood tall with the Judgment Day as McDonagh took his remaining aggression out on the magic organ.
Backstage, Adam Pearce walked in as a medic was tending to Danhausen and the minis. Pearce told the man to give the money back to Mysterio to end this madness, but instead, Danhausen suggested a human monies on a pole match. Pearce told him if that’s what it takes to end this, he’ll make the match.
And thus it is, at SummerSlam, it will be Danhausen against Dominik Mysterio in the first-ever and likely last-ever human monies on a pole match.
The Last Word
Danhausen went mainstream when he cursed Stephen A. Smith by cursing his beloved Knicks. When Danhausen lifted the curse, the Knicks went on to win the NBA Championship. Pictured above is Karl Anthony Towns on the parade float, just a few weeks prior to his in-ring appearance in WWE.
Ever since Danhausen made his way to WWE, fans have rallied behind the very nice, very evil character. In. fact, it’s safe to say WWE’s only misstep in the Danhausen journey was his debut, but that seemed to be less about him and more about the hype of what people were expecting. Danhausen’s run has been nothing short of brilliant so far, and the fact that he had been front-and-center in the media with his connection to the New York Knicks’ title run has been all the better for WWE and ESPN.
In fact, it’s safe to say the more Danhausen, the better right now. Keeping his matches limited is smart, as Danhausen’s strength is character work, not so much ring work. But that’s where guys like Mysterio come in. Mysterio, McDonagh, Miz, and Kit Wilson have been phenomenal partners for Danhausen. They haven’t been afraid to be the butt of the joke or to wrestle matches in a more comedic way. Mysterio might even be the perfect dance partner for this style of match on this stage.
I would certainly hope WWE takes advantage of the moment and works in a reference to Mysterio’s custody. Perhaps Danhausen will surprise Mysterio by sneaking in custody papers to the bag of human monies. A world where Danhausen is Miz’ daddy might be too much to wish for. Even if WWE doesn’t go that direction, though, it’s hard to fault whatever they do come up with because right now, Danhausen has the Midas touch.
