The next few weeks will be very busy for the Judgment Day. Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan will face Iyo Sky at SummerSlam after weeks of tension. Dominik Mysterio will also be at SummerSlam, facing Danhausen after Monday’s show turned into torment for the faction.
Raquel Rodriguez will face Sol Ruca for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship next Monday. It’s clear that if things go right for them, they could be rid of Danhausen’s curse as well as draped in championship gold. But if things go wrong, WWE should break up the Judgment Day for good.
The past few weeks for them have been completely miserable. Mysterio and JD McDonagh have been in a cartoonish feud with Danhausen, Rodriguez keeps losing championship matches, Morgan hasn’t defended her title once since she won it from Stephanie Vaquer at WrestleMania: Vegas, and Roxanne Perez hasn’t won a match since April. Splitting them up should be the right decision moving forward if they are all unsuccessful at SummerSlam.
The Judgment Day Could Still Be Redeemed
There have been countless times where fans have been certain that wrestlers and factions are done for. Sometimes that happens, but that’s not always the case. Rodriguez could shock everyone and take the Women’s IC title off Ruca next Monday. Mysterio could figure out Danhausen’s curses, getting the bag of money back alongside McDonagh.
Perez could help Morgan retain her title at SummerSlam. Things might be downcast for the Judgment Day now, but one small victory could set off a chain reaction to get the faction up and running again.
The one thing that’s good about the Judgment Day is that they always have each other’s backs. They’re constantly interfering in each other’s matches in order to get the win. If they can keep that up for the next few weeks, they could walk out of SummerSlam with championship gold and the bag of money. The Judgment Day have had a rough few weeks, but their loyalty could turn their luck around very quickly.
Each Member is Better Off by Themselves
Sometimes factions get split up at the wrong time, leading to massive controversy among the fans. However, looking at the Judgment Day’s booking over the last few months, splitting them up after SummerSlam would be the right call. Mysterio is the AAA Mega Champion, but he’s enlisting the help of El Grande Americano in AAA instead of his faction mates.
McDonagh has been running around with Danhausen instead of chasing championships. Morgan’s last title match was 5 PLE’s ago. Perez has been an afterthought as well, as she has never challenged for a singles title since being called up last year.
The members of the faction choose to stick together, preventing themselves from challenging for major titles. They never step outside their comfort zone, which is why the faction has gotten stale. McDonagh and Perez were especially great in NXT as singles competitors. Letting everyone go their separate ways will benefit their careers, as the other faction members won’t weigh them down.
Is it Time to Let the Judgment Day Go?
Right now, there’s a lot of potential for things to go right at SummerSlam for Morgan and Mysterio. Getting the bag of money and retaining the Women’s World Championship will boost morale and give them much-needed wins. The same thing could be said for Rodriguez when she faces Ruca. But sometimes letting things continue instead of letting go does way more damage.
Former NXT title holders in McDonagh and Perez are running around in cartoon feuds and have been losing matches for months. Rodriguez has lost four title opportunities in a row since December, with a no-contest between her first and second losses. Mysterio has obviously prioritized AAA over Raw. Morgan is in no rush to defend her title, going over 100 days without defending it.
They are all way worse off than they were even a few months ago. If they lose at SummerSlam, leaving them together will be pointless. What happens the first weekend of August will determine the direction of the Judgment Day.
