One of WWE’s most under-utilized wrestlers on their roster is Otis. He gets big crowd reactions whenever he appears, as his brand of comedy is a hit with fans. However, his luck with friendships other than Akira Tozawa has ended in disaster. First, he lost Mandy Rose during the COVID era.
Then Chad Gable turned on the whole Alpha Academy two years ago. It seemed like Maxxine Dupri had his back, but what happened on the July 13, 2026 episode of Monday Night Raw was his worst betrayal yet.
He and Tozawa not only got betrayed by Dupri, but got brutally attacked by both Austin Theory and Bron Breakker, who are the current WWE World Tag Team Champions. They got kicked, punched, and received low blows. It was an absolutely horrible night for both of them, especially Otis, who had the worst night of his career. Getting the tag titles off the Vision at SummerSlam will be the redemption he’s needed for years now.
Otis Winning Would Fully Break Up the The Vision
Aside from two WWE World Tag Team Championship reigns and former leader Seth Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign, the Vision hasn’t made much of an impact due to constant injury. Rollins took time off to heal his shoulder, leading to his expulsion.
Breakker missed a couple of months before returning at WrestleMania: Vegas. Bronson Reed has been out since February, and Logan Paul tore his tricep in May. Even Paul Heyman, though not injured, has walked away from them.
The faction is down to two healthy members other than Dupri, Breakker and Theory, the world tag team champions. They don’t have a match for SummerSlam, and Akira Tozawa & Otis are going to be really angry next Monday.
Making that match official can allow Alpha Academy, especially Otis, to win and get redemption for their mistreatment. The tag titles are the only thing holding the Vision together. If they lose, there’s no question that Breakker will spear Theory and disband the faction for good.

Otis has been through a lot in his tenure with WWE. In addition to all the times that he’s been betrayed, he lost his Money in the Bank briefcase to the Miz in 2020, which the latter used to become WWE Champion the following year. Over and over, he’s been beaten down without any chance of redemption.
He was World Tag Team Champion with Chad Gable four years ago, but there wasn’t a sad storyline attached. They just checked off a title win with each other off their bucket list. This time is different for a huge reason.
Dupri trusted him and threw away everything, similar to what happened to her and Natalya after weeks of partnership last fall, as she ended her reign with the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Now it’s time for him to get his win and happy ending alongside Tozawa, who has been with him the whole time. An Alpha Academy win will be a highlight in Otis’ career.
Now is the Best Time to Crown Alpha Academy
SummerSlam is taking place in Minneapolis, Minnesota this year, which is Otis’ hometown. It’s also the hometown of Chad Gable, who won the gauntlet match to face Penta for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Getting a title match against the two men who beat him and his friend down in front of his friends and family is the best case scenario for him.
Winning the WWE World Tag Team Championships with Tozawa will be the culmination of a years-long cycle of being mistreated and seen as a joke by many different wrestlers.
What Theory told him on Monday definitely crossed the line, and he’ll definitely want to get him back for what he said. What better way to do that than challenge him and Breakker at SummerSlam? Everyone is rooting for Otis and Tozawa, and have been for many years. One key victory will make their years of suffering worth it. Having the Alpha Academy beat the Vision will be the perfect ending to a great underdog story.
