WWE Night of Champions 2026 is only eight days away at the time of writing; however, it’s shaping up to be one of the best iterations of the Premium Live Event Series. On this week’s WWE SmackDown, two title matches were added to the card, rounding out an already impressive show that will feature the King and Queen of the Ring finals, as well as a Steel Cage Grudge Match.
WWE Night of Champions 2026 Just Got Bigger
Earlier in the night on the latest edition of WWE SmackDown, former WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill would issue a warning to the woman she took a championship from at one point in time, Tiffany Stratton. The current Women’s United States Champion got involved in the business of Cargill, interfering in her Queen of the Ring first-round matchup. Unsurprisingly, Jade is not happy about this, and she issued a challenge to Tiffany Stratton to put the Women’s U.S. Title up for grabs.

Speaking of controversy, Sami Zayn, Gunther, and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes had a ball of a time on this June 19, 2026, edition of WWE SmackDown in Kansas. Gunther was just a breath away from becoming Undisputed WWE Champion, but Sami Zayn went absolutely ballistic and cost him the title, not once, but twice.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes did not want it to go down this way, and spoke to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis about a rematch at next Saturday’s WWE Night of Champions, effectively setting up a Triple Threat Match, as Cody Rhodes will defend against Sami Zayn and Gunther.
As Zayn said on SmackDown, he wasn’t involved, but now that he is, he’s in it to win it. As for Gunther, he’s been virtually screwed so many times, and now it’s his prime opportunity to right the wrongs. Cody Rhodes welcomes the challenge, of course. WWE Night of Champions 2026 is going to be a barn-burner, with these two title matches added to an already massive card.
