WWE Night of Champions will take over Riyadh in Saudi Arabia a week from Saturday. Only a handful of matches have been confirmed for the show. Seth “Freakin” Rollins will battle Bron Breakker inside a steel cage, and the finals of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will be held in the Kingdom Arena.
It is the last major path on the road to SummerSlam. The PLE will have major ramifications for the Biggest Party of the Summer. Consequently, Triple H will have to be extra careful on June 27 as lapses could significantly alter the course of WWE’s summer season. On that note, let’s look at 3 mistakes WWE must not make at Night of Champions.
#3. WWE Must Book Title Matches at Night of Champions
Once upon a time, WWE Night of Champions felt like a must-see special show with a unique theme. It was the one night of the year when every active championship on the roster was defended. The PLE was discontinued for a while, but it became a staple again in the TKO Era.
However, WWE has not been completely faithful to the original theme of the PLE. For example, only two title matches were defended last year. John Cena put the WWE Championship on the line against CM Punk in the main event, and Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu fought over the US Title in the undercard.
As of the time of writing, no title matches have been confirmed for Night of Champions. There are 11 active titles on the main roster, and Triple H should aim to showcase at least half of them next Saturday. Penta has been a fighting champion, and it would be great to see the Intercontinental Championship take center stage.
Furthermore, the WWE Championship scene on SmackDown is a mess, but the creative team could maneuver this chaos into a Triple Threat between Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn, and Gunther.
#2. The Finals of the King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments Should Receive a Proper Build
At Night of Champions, WWE will determine the King and Queen of the Ring. As has become the norm in recent years, the respective tournaments are the main selling point for the PLE. While the idea and prestige are enough to sell the show, the finals deserve a legitimate build.
Last year, Cody Rhodes faced Randy Orton in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament. It was a dream match years in the making, but WWE had only days to build towards the match. There was little breathing room between the semi-finals and finals of the tournament. Triple H should not repeat the same mistake this year.

Oba Femi and IYO SKY have already advanced to the finals. Jey Uso and Je’Von Evans will battle in the second semi-final on SmackDown. Charlotte Flair and Liv Morgan will also face each other on Friday. With a week remaining, the company has some time to build a compelling narrative for the finals.
#1. Giving “Main Event” Jey Uso the Crown at Night of Champions Might Be a Mistake
There is a strong chance that Jey Uso might become the King of the Ring at Night of Champions. Oba Femi has advanced to the finals, but WWE is unlikely to put the crown on him. As for Je’Von Evans, he is still too young for such a role. SummerSlam is still too soon to put Femi in a World Title match. Furthermore, the Ruler has a score to settle with Brock Lesnar.
Fans are expecting Lesnar to cost Femi the crown. This interference would set up the massive rubber match between the Beast and the Ruler at SummerSlam. While this angle is an intriguing prospect, putting the crown on a controversial star like Jey Uso is a risky move. The Right Hand Man of the Bloodline’s initial push to the main event scene caused a major stir on social media.
Currently, fans are calling for stars like Finn Balor and LA Knight to receive a main event push. Giving the role to someone else might be a mistake. Additionally, excitement levels for a Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso feud seem modest.
