WWE WrestleMania 42: Why Oba Femi Should Challenge Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar laid out an open challenge for WrestleMania 42. No one has answered it yet, but the ongoing rumors indicate that it could either be LA Knight or Oba Femi. LA Knight could answer the open challenge due to his ongoing feud with The Vision and Lesnar’s association with Paul Heyman on the road to ‘Mania.

However, the WWE Universe was chanting “Oba Femi” as the man they want to slay The Beast. Here are three reasons why Oba Femi should be the one to challenge Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42.

1. Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar Would Be A Spectacle Match

Even without a long-term story as a baseline, WWE enjoys booking matches that are marquee “on paper.” WWE loves the idea of booking the unstoppable force vs. the immovable object. Indeed, it is an old school way of thinking, but that school of thought still exists in this day and age.

It does not pervade the pro wrestling landscape as much as it did back in the 1980s-1990s. However, when it comes to WrestleMania, WWE has a proclivity for catering towards their casual fans and “spectacles” like this one fit the appeal.

2. Brock Lesnar Is On His Way To Retirement

The concept is simple. Seeing two gigantic, muscular juggernauts bash heads in the ring is something most fans want to see. Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar fit that description, and WWE needs to capitalize on the biggest dream matches for Lesnar before he reaches his retirement date at SummerSlam in August.

It is likely that Gunther, the career-ender, will retire Lesnar in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, this summer. Now that Lesnar is on his way out, he might pass the torch to a younger talent.

3. Oba Femi Could Have A Star-Making Moment

And, Oba Femi is not just any “young talent.” He is a legitimate beast who should take Brock’s spot as the Beast Incarnate. It would not be enough for WWE to book this match merely. Oba Femi needs to slay The Beast. Some may say that Brock needs momentum for his retirement match at SummerSlam and should win at Mania.

Some may say that it is too early for a wrestler who just recently got called up from NXT to beat Brock on his first try. However, this is a moment in which WWE needs to strike while the iron is hot.
