Kenny Omega will face Andrade El Idolo on AEW Dynamite on February 4

AEW Dynamite Preview (2/4/26): Kenny Omega vs. Andrade El Idolo

Returning to Sin City, AEW Dynamite offers three big matches and high stakes. There’s potential uncertainty, also if you are a person who likes betting. It’s going to be hard to know who to put your money on. The four matches announced so far will determine who steps up next to challenge for the AEW World Championship and who will leave as the AEW National champion.

Yet that’s not all. The Young Bucks, no longer money or status-obsessed, will return to Las Vegas not with the intention of gambling their money away. Matt and Nick Jackson instead are focused on throwing the AEW tag team division a superkick party.

AEW National Championship

Defending his championship in his home city, will the Las Vegas crowd show Ricochet some love? Maybe The Demand leader should not expect home-field advantage. Or for fans to not chant about his desert-dome. This rematch against Jungle Jack Perry has been a fun chase that’s seen the Jurassic Express member coming close to capturing his first singles championship in AEW.

Ricochet has had seven defences in his six promotions since November of last year. This is Ricochet’s first time defending against an opponent he has already defeated. Yet Perry is likely coming with more than just bite. This is a significant opportunity for a young man whose altered name and persona have gained momentum since his return at the end of last year.

These two are going to fly and spin like a ball on a roulette table. Where the championship lands, we’ll find out on Wednesday.

AEW World Championship Picture

Announced on the last Dynamite of January, the top two contenders of the AEW World Championship will fight at Grand Slam Australia on February 14th for the chance to face the AEW World champion, MJF. Last week, Andrade el Idolo low-blowed his way to a victory over Swerve Strickland.

This week, the Don Callis Family man will take on Kenny Omega in what will be more than just a rematch from AAA’s TripleMania XXIX in 2021. It was Kenny Omega, El Idolo, who used him as his victim to make his initial AEW return. Legal issues only boosted the intrigue surrounding the former La Sombra. El Idolo’s AEW return has been marked by big victories and strong performances. Cheating aside, Andrade is dangerous.

Kenny Omega might one week feel like he is in the best shape of his life, but Don Callis knows Omega’s weaknesses. El Idolo won’t be shy in targeting Omega’s abdomen and exploiting his opponent’s diverticulitis scars. This could become a cutthroat battle.

Elsewhere, Brody King’s pursuit of MJF, after the AEW World Champion made his tag partner Bandido pass out in a LeBell Lock, comes to a head. MJF can run or pretend he is not scared. However, a countout or DQ victory would be enough to give the Big Bad the opportunity needed to strip Friedman of the gold.

MJF is in for a physically exhausting contest. Although the Salt of the Earth might think he can win by wits alone, Friedman needs to be careful not to underestimate the Hound of Hell. This is without even mentioning Hangman Adam Page watching on.
