AEW Collision Preview (1/31/26): The Rascalz and Tommaso Ciampa Debut

AEW Collision returns for one final night of its Esports Stadium Arlington residency. With five matches, three of which are for titles, confirmed. This includes one of my earlier predictions. There are potential breadcrumbs for what’s next and some big final moments on this last Texas show.

With two debuts, plus an AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship and AEW TNT Championship contest, Saturday looks good for those who like fighting. There’s even an interesting random graphic contest that has the potential to steal headlines. Darby Allin will take on the former Bullet Club War Dog member and Gabe Kidd stablemate, Clark Connors. Connors has competed on Collision before last year and at All In Texas’ Zero Hour. The White Rhino is not someone to be dealt with lightly. With rumours of the futures and contracts of several former Bullet Club members apparently up in the air, is this a one-off?

Two Debuts

Saturday night, Tommaso Ciampa makes his AEW debut against a legacy rival in Mark Briscoe. Answering Briscoe’s open challenge for anyone not a member of the Don Callis Family, the ROH legend and NXT Black and Gold stalwart, greeted his own adversary with a kiss.

Inferring the mind games and intentions of The Psycho Killer (Qu’est-ce que c’est?) dark mind of Ciampa, did Ciampa give Briscoe the kiss of death? Fresh out of WWE, can Ciampa perform on the Elite level, or like others before him, need time to adjust?

The Rascalz have responded to CRU’s challenge. After a game of rock, paper, scissors, Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz will challenge the team of Action Andretti and Lio Rush. Perfect foils and perfectly matched in terms of offence, such a contest would help showcase what the newcomers can offer all divisions – singles, tag, and trios.

Speculation

With more room on the card, do not be surprised if there are more last-minute graphics dropped before Saturday. AEW Collision is usually home to multiple women’s matches. After a vignette last week aired showing Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter agreeing to join forces, have the pair got their matching outfits sorted?

This combination of British steel and power seems perfectly suited to each other. Another example of Tony Khan’s creative ability is the creation of interesting, complementary tag teams. Could the pair team up for the first time on Collision?

There’s a noticeable lack of stipulations and violence for this final Texas show. The Grizzled Young Vets took umbrage with Ortiz needing a fastball to defeat them. Zack Gibson and James Drake have challenged Kingston and Ortiz to a rematch with weapons. A bloody or weapons-filled street fight could be on the cards.

Fantasy booking, but the idea of the two Northern Brits bringing some British staples as weaponry and their New Yorker opponents doing the same with a New York-themed arsenal to Texas… It would be a fun and literal culture clash.
