The Vision is Ready to Ring in the New Year with its First Gold

It’s the final Raw of 2025, wrapping up a fantastic year of the flagship brand on Netflix. One of 2025’s more recent top stories revolves around the Vision and its newest member, Austin Theory. Raw opened with a recap of Theory’s words to Paul Heyman last week and his role in the Vision’s victory over Rey Mysterio and CM Punk. So when the Vision opened up Raw, they came squad deep. After Mysterio, the Usos, and Stephanie Vaquer were all seen entering the arena, cameras followed the Vision from the backstage hallway through gorilla, and down the ramp toward the ring.

Paul Heyman kicked things off as he gestured toward his newest visionary in Theory. The crowd booed, causing Heyman to pause his intro briefly. Some chants of CM Punk stopped Heyman a second time. Heyman said Punk could have been there, but he had to placate the fans instead, and he stopped listening to him. Due to the “stupid ass CM Punk” chants, Heyman started his intro over. He said everything he says after saying his name justifies something that needs no justification. Five years from now, when the fans are obsessively scrolling, this is the moment where they’ll look back and identify all of the WrestleMania main eventers of that era…chants of OTC lead to Punk mocking fans for their “most irrelevant opinion.” Heyman says tonight in the ring is the future of the business. So here’s the sentence that matters: the rumors are true, Theory is officially the newest member of the Vision. Heyman hands the mic over to Theory, telling him to earn his keep. Theory, through boos, says he’s waited his whole life and worked his entire career for this moment. He’s got a lot he wants to talk about. First, Theory talks up Bron Breakker, the next world heavyweight champion. Theory asks his Wiseman to educate him on a certain part, to which Heyman says the goals of the Vision outweigh the individual needs of members of the group. Guess that’s a way of saying why Theory, Logan Paul, and Bronson Reed are just going to let Breakker have his day. Well, not if Punk has something to say about it and something to say he did.

Punk came out before Theory could continue, mic in hand. After taking in the crowd’s cheers, Punk told Theory he’s already drinking the Kool-Aid so soon. He says he’s not out there to listen to him. He’s out for another kid, Breakker, Punk says he’s been called a lot of things, as he’s tougher than he is smart. Punk hopes someone has a brain in that group, and he’s looking at Heyman. Punk says the match is already set. He could come down and say a few things and take some moves, but if they did that, there probably wouldn’t be a title shot on the 5th. Punk says he likes to look a man in the eye before putting him to sleep. Punk says, unless Breakker is scared, why doesn’t he get his boys out of the ring so they can clear things up face-to-face. Punk taunts Breakker, calling him “little doggy,” before Breakker invites Punk into the lion’s den. He promises the Vision won’t hurt him. After a few seconds and backing from the fans, Punk watches as the rest of the Vision leave so he can enter the ring. He offers Breakker the first shot.

Breakker reminds Punk that the Vision is here because they are looking toward the future. They see things through the same lens. Breakker hypes up Reed as a man feared in the back, Paul as the biggest superstar in the world, Theory as a man with everything to prove, and himself, the next world heavyweight champion. Breakker says he’s tired of everyone calling him the future and saying one day he’ll figure it out because that day has come. He’s the now. He’s not just a new shiny toy, and he’s not going to fail. Breakker tells Punk to find someone in the locker room who can do what he can do – who can take over in less than a year in the business, who is more committed than him, who was born into the industry and is more than a dog than him. He says Punk might not like him, and he knows what he sees, that he thinks Breakker has had everything handed to him because of where he comes from. Breakker says everything he’s done has been under a microscope, and he’s had to live up to the highest possible standard. Breakker says Punk might not respect him because he didn’t pay his dues on the indies, but while Punk was doing that, Breakker was sharing the field with Lamar Jackson. He says he’s willing to die for that championship, and he knows Punk is too, and he’s going to let him. He’s going to put him in the ground and become the new champion.

Punk says Breakker’s first mistake was thinking that he knew what he thought of him. Punk says he’s more ready than anyone he’s ever seen, than anyone in the back, and anyone in the Vision. The problem is Punk isn’t ready to drop the title and all that comes with it. He drops the title and tells Breakker to pick it up. It’s a privilege to carry the company, and he’s not ready to let it go. He’s not ready to stop welcoming people to arenas nationwide, to stop being the champion. Breakker has what it takes, but they aren’t the same because he is CM Punk. One day Punk will run out of road, but that day isn’t today, and it’s not January 5th. Someday, someone will beat him for the title, but it won’t be Breakker. Punk says he’ll see him on January 5th and leaves Breakker in the ring, seething.

Backstage with Raquel Rodriguez. Jackie Redmond points out the chaos leading up to this. Rodriguez says there will be no tricks tonight, and no one is getting in the way of what’s hers. Liv Morgan interrupts to tell Rodriguez she needs to take care of business tonight, but so they are on the same page, Rodriguez says she can handle things alone. Roxanne Perez shows up, and Morgan amps up Rodriguez. Perez says last week is water under the bridge and wishes Rodriguez luck. Rodriguez says she doesn’t need luck, and then right into Nikki Bella’s music, and the match is up next.

Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (C) vs Nikki Bella vs Raquel Rodriguez

All three women stood in the ring with Bella getting the first shot as she pushed Rodriguez and Vaquer. Vaquer with the first nearfall on a quick roll-up on Rodriguez, but no such luck. Bella denies the Devil’s Kiss and clears the ring before chasing Vaquer to the outside. Bella is in control as she throws both women into the barricades and steps, and then just like that, we’re on to our second commercial (there was one in between Bella’s entrance and Rodriguez).

Back from commercial, and Rodriguez catches Bella attempting a crossbody off the top before locking Vaquer into a Gory special. Rodriguez gets a nearfall to get Vaquer’s shoulder down, but Vaquer counters into a nearfall, broken up by Bella. Vaquer hits a suplex and then locks Bella into the Devil’s Kiss, but Rodriguez breaks it up and clears Bella from the ring. Vaquer and Rodriguez battle on the apron, with Vaquer getting the better of it until Bella pulls her off the top. Only briefly, however, as Vaquer gets back and takes down Rodriguez. Bella, back in the ring, throws Vaquer into the ringpost before locking in an STF, leading to “Thank you, Cena” chants and Bella yelling at the crowd, “No, thank me.” Great heel work. Rodriguez powers out and reverses things, but not for long, as Vaquer hits the Devil’s Kiss on Rodriguez while Rodriguez still had Bella in a hold. Vaquer with the Meteora to Bella and then Rodriguez before taking out both with a dragon screw. Vaquer looks to stomp Bella on the apron, but Bella takes her legs out from under her. Rodriguez clotheslines both on the apron to take control as we head to another break.

Vaquer has Rodriguez in the rope-assisted armbar, but Bella breaks it up and climbs to the top. Rodriguez follows, but so does Vaquer. All three women are at the top as Bella manages to take both women down before getting nearfalls on the champ and fellow challenger. Bella gets Vaquer up, but Rodriguez takes her out. Bella escapes the powerbomb and climbs to the top to take out Rodriguez, but Vaquer capitalizes and gets a nearfall on Bella, only broken up by Rodriguez. Vaquer rallies briefly but Rodriguez’ power is too much. She takes Vaquer down with a clothesline and then climbs to the top, but again, Bella takes her down. Bella covers Rodriguez, but she kicks out. Rodriguez gets both Vaquer and Bella up, but Vaquer manages to roll off. She rolls Rodriguez out of the ring before covering Bella to remain champ.

Redmond catches Gunther backstage and asks if he has a response to his behavior since defeating John Cena. Gunther says he made Cena tap out before R Truth rolls up. He tells him the disrespect needs to stop. Every week that he brags about it, makes him a piece of, Truth whispers the word in his ear. Gunther laughs in Truth’s face, insulting his attempt to challenge him. He tells Truth he’ll see him in the ring.

The Kabuki Warriors addressed Asuka beating Rhea Ripley from last week. Asuka tells the fans they all thought their Mami would beat Asuka before yelling in Japanese. She says all of the fans are stupid babies. Kairi Sane echoes the sentiment and addresses IYO SKY. She says SKY never should have abandoned her, but Asuka sternly interrupts and chastises her for missing SKY. Asuka said last week, SKY and Ripley paid for their disrespect because no one was ready for the Kabuki Warriors. They are the champions…Before Asuka can continue, RHIYO enter and clear the ring. They chase the Kabukis to the outside, and the four begin brawling. SKY is sent into the announce desk and then over the barricade. With Ripley isolated, the Kabukis pummel her inside the ring. Sane goes up, but SKY returns to take her down, and then Asuka. Ripley and SKY take over, once again clearing the ring and sending the Kabukis packing.

Punk and Mysterio catch up backstage, where Mysterio tells Punk he’s good tonight. He says Heyman isn’t the only one in the favor business, so Mysterio is covered tonight when it comes to the Vision. Punk’s got a title to protect next week, so he lets him off the hook. Punk wishes him luck.

Gunther vs R-Truth

Truth came in hot and went right after Gunther, almost managing to take him down. But Gunther stopped the flurry in its tracks with a huge boot before absolutely brutalizing and embarrassing Truth. Every time Truth tried to fight back, Gunther made it look easy. He taunted the crowd before turning his attention back to Truth and taking him out with huge clothelines. Gunther attempted to add insult to injury by doing the five knuckle shuffle, but Truth interrupted it and landed a few of his own shoulder tackles before Gunther took him out yet again. One more powerbomb, and that looked like it was it, but Gunther broke up the cover so he could lock in the sleeper instead and make Truth tap.

Backstage, Jimmy Uso hyped up Jey Uso, who seemed a little tentative. Jimmy said he knows something isn’t right, but he needs Jey locked in. Jey says he feels like nothing has been going his way lately. He’s been in a bad spot, but he’s not trying to put Jimmy in a bad spot. Jimmy says the only bad spot is in his own head. He’s a world champion, an eight-time tag champ, and the longest reigning tag champ. Jimmy says he needs his brother, and together, they’ve got this. Jey doesn’t seem as sure as Jimmy leaves, and we go to break.

Je’Von Evans is backstage hyping up AJ Styles and Dragon Lee. They ask what he’s doing there, and he said he’s not sure, but he’s here to see Adam Pearce. Styles offers him and Leon Slater a rematch anytime before El Grande Americano shows up. Evans says he’s not running from the Americanos, and look at that, there are three Americanos, and three of the other guys. Lee speaks in Spanish, as does Americano. Evans and Styles didn’t understand, and Lee says he’ll explain, but it seems like there is going to be a trios match soon enough.

Backstage, Heyman is with Theory and Paul in the Vision’s locker room. Heyman says it’s Theory’s big night, and he’s not going to let Mysterio ruin it. Breakker and Reed come up to congratulate Theory on his new role. Paul says he’s one of the greatest stars, and he’s one of the most humble guys. But on his first day with the Vision, he was a little nervous. He said Theory did great out there, and they’ve all got his back. Heyman tells Paul to walk Theory out to the ring so they can bond.

Austin Theory vs Rey Mysterio

The two lock up as Theory gets the strength advantage and tosses Mysterio into the ringpost several times. Theory with the backbreaker, but then Mysterio rolls off and manages to take Theory out with the hurricanrana. Theory stops his momentum, however, tossing Mysterio around for a bit. But Mysterio is resilient, taking Theory out and getting him in position for the 619. Theory wisely rolls out of the way and onto the floor. He catches Mysterio and tosses him back-first into the ringpost and then back into the ring as we head to break.

Theory has Mysterio on the ropes, but Mysterio briefly pushes him off, only for Theory to get Mysterio tied up. Theory goes for a huge takedown of Mysterio, but Mysterio evades and heads back to the top, taking down Theory quickly. With a head of steam, Mysterio charged at Theory, but Theory stopped him in his tracks. Mysterio, however, once again, makes a huge counter coming off of Theory’s back to hit a huge DDT. He sets up Theory for the 619 again and lands it this time, but Paul comes in with a huge takedown of Mysterio. The match is called off for interference. Paul and Theory attack and are shocked as Penta makes his return for the first time in months. Mysterio hits Paul with a 619 before Penta clears the heels of the ring. Penta and Mysterio stand tall.

A pre-recorded promo from RHIYO as Ripley calls Asuka delusional. SKY didn’t betray her, she betrayed SKY. Ripley didn’t disrespect Asuka, Asuka disrespected her. Next week, Ripley is going to break her. SKY says it’s too late for Sane as she’s chosen the wrong path. Asuka was her senpai, but now, the student has become the master. They are going to teach the Kabukis a lesson in respect when they become the new tag team champions.

Styles and Lee are seen getting ready for their match later in the night.

Maxxine Dupri comes out to thank the WWE universe as fans chant “you deserve it.” She calls out Becky Lynch and says she can keep running her mouth, but she can’t deny that last week, she had no choice but to tap out because she wasn’t letting go. Dupri says next week she stops at nothing to remain champ. Lynch interrupts her. She says she didn’t tap out as fans chant, “You tapped out.” Lynch says the only thing she tapped out to was living in Orlando. She tells the crowd not to boo because they lost her, but cheer because they had her. She’s going to be an inspiration to them. If they get rich and famous, they can move out of Orlando, too. Dupri tells Lynch to choose her next move wisely because she’s going to either break her arm or make her submit. Lynch calls her Moody Maxxine and tells Dupri she didn’t come out to start a fight; she never does that. She came to give her cre—but Lynch has to choke out the words. She says when she first saw her, she thought she was the worst thing she’d ever seen, but over the last few months, she’s gotten a tiny bit better. She was able to get away with stealing a title, and that’s not nothing. Dupri says the only thing she stole was the spotlight. She earned the title, and next week, Lynch will have no one to blame, and she’ll be forced to acknowledge Dupri as the IC champ. Lynch says she came out to be nice because she’s a very nice person, but four weeks of training in a dungeon doesn’t make up for the lifetime Lynch has given to the business. She’s the greatest female wrestler of all time, and everyone says it. She climbed every mountain and overcame corruption and injustice. It’s never over until she wins, and she always finds a way to win. Dupri thinks she stole the spotlight, but in one week, all eyes will be on her. She’ll need to ask herself if she’s everything the fans think she is or everything that Lynch knows she is.

Pearce is backstage with Trick Williams, who is a free agent. Bayley and Lyra Valkyria interrupt as Valkyria says they should be considered as part of the tag title picture. They want next. Bayley says it’s not fair that Morgan and Perez have next because she beat Perez last week. Bayley calls Pearce bald and an idiot. Valkyria says she means that as a term of endearment before walking away.

World Tag Team Championship: AJ Styles and Dragon Lee (C) vs the Usos

After electric entrances from both teams, Styles and Jey start off with a lock-up. Uso gets a quick edge, but Styles rebounds with a massive dropkick before tagging in Lee. A double team from the champs and same to Jimmy as Lee and Styles clear both challengers from the ring before we head to commercial.

Back from break, and Jimmy and Lee are legal. Lee with a double stomp to Jimmy on the mat before hitting another in the corner. That leads to a nearfall, but Jimmy kicks out. Lee tags in to Styles, who continues to dominate. But a cheap shot from Jey with Styles on the apron gives the Usos the edge. Jey tags in, and the Usos land a quick double team before Jey tags out. Styles manages to tag out to Lee as well, who comes in hot to take down Jimmy in the corner. Another quick tag, but Lee takes Jey down and gets a nearfall. Jey rolls out, and Lee goes to fly, but Jimmy grabs his legs and throws him into the steel steps before cleaning off the announce table. Styles charges off the steps to prevent more damage, but he’s taken out by Jey. The Usos hype each other up as we head to another break.

Jey rolls Lee into their corner as both Styles and Lee are down. Jimmy tags in and takes out Lee, dragging him to the top of the ringpost. Lee manages to reverse things, though, and hits a huge double stomp to Jimmy, hung upside down on the ropes. Jimmy and Lee with stereo hot tags. Styles gets the edge with a huge striking combo before taking out Jimmy as well. Styles gets a nearfall, but Jey kicks out. Styles looks to hit the Styles Clash, but Jey counters and hits a superkick followed by a spear. He tags in Jimmy, who lands the Uso Splash, but Styles kicks out at the last second. Jey tags back in as fans chant, “Ref, you suck.” Jimmy climbs up, but Lee stops him and sends Jey into the post as well. Lee hits a huge suicide dive on the outside to take out Jimmy, allowing Styles the roll-up attempt. Jey fires back with a superkick, and Styles hits a Pele before landing the Styles Clash. Jey kicks out. It’s pandemonium at ringside as the fans chant, “This is awesome.” Styles rises to his feet and tags in Lee, who climbs to the top with Jey strung over the ropes. Lee and Styles go for their stomp/clash combo, but Jimmy superkicks Lee to break it up. Styles responds with a Phenomenal Forearm attempt, but no, the Usos with the dual superkicks to Styles and then Lee. The Usos hit their double team move, and it’s a wrap. The Usos are nine-time champs heading into 2026.
