Women’s wrestling in WWE continued to improve in 2025, and arguably, the match of the year was from the women’s division. The women’s world title picture is so strong that stalwarts and future WWE Hall of Famers, Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair didn’t even hold a women’s world championship in 2025. For sure, they featured in title matches, but they’ve featured heavily in the women’s tag team division, giving that division a much-needed boost.

The WWE Women’s Championship on SmackDown just had three titleholders. Whereas, five Women’s World Champions were crowned on the red brand. However, no repeat champions were crowned, showcasing the depth in the women’s division. Furthermore, three women clinched their first women’s world championships in 2025. The storylines captivated the audience with some fascinating matches and plot twists.
With the creation of the WWE Women’s Intercontinental and WWE Women’s United States Championships, more opportunities were presented for women. Gone are the days of women’s matches being treated as the proverbial toilet break. Nevertheless, the Women’s World Champions who ruled their respective brands had a mixture of memorable and underwhelming title reigns.
8. Jade Cargill
It was only a matter of time before Jade Cargill was going to hold the WWE Women’s Championship. The 2025 Queen of the Ring winner failed to dethrone Tiffany Stratton for the title at SummerSlam 2025. However, it proved to be the right call as months later, Cargill found her calling by attacking Stratton and becoming a heel.
The Storm overpowered Stratton on the November 1, 2025 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event to become the new WWE Women’s Champion. Nevertheless, Cargill’s maiden reign currently lasts 57 days, but she’s yet to defend the WWE Women’s Championship. Time will tell if Cargill can handle the pressure of holding the title, as she has a lot of critics to prove wrong.
7. Nia Jax
Despite not featuring at WrestleMania 40, 2024 was a resurgent year for Nia Jax. The Irresistible Force went on a tear post-WrestleMania, resulting in Jax winning the 2024 Queen of the Ring tournament. Unlike Cargill, Jax managed to convert her Queen of the Ring triumph into gold. She dethroned Bayley at SummerSlam 2024 to become a two-time WWE Women’s Champion. Her first world title run in six years.
Jax’s Women’s Championship reign was steady, and her final two title defenses were on SmackDown’s January 3, 2025, episode. She overcame Naomi in an outstanding championship match. However, Jax was always vulnerable despite Ms. Money in the Bank, Tiffany Stratton being her ally, and Stratton put herself first.
She cashed in her Money in the Bank contract, successfully ending her former friend’s 153-day stranglehold on the WWE Women’s Championship.
