Steven Borden Follows in Sting’s Footsteps With AEW Debut

Sting’s retirement at AEW Revolution in March 2024 marked the end of a legendary career that spanned decades and generations. On his final day of a three-year run with Tony Khan as promoter, the Icon teamed with Darby Allin to defeat The Young Bucks and retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship, finishing his AEW career without a single loss.

Although Sting’s final entrance was built to celebrate the evolution of his character and featured his sons, the moment also hinted at a new chapter for the Borden family in professional wrestling. That hint has now become reality, as Steven Borden officially begins carving out his own path inside the ring.

Steven Borden’s First Steps

Steven Borden first entered the wrestling world at an art show organized by Darby Allin, where he took part in a tag team match. His performance quickly caught the attention of fans, but it was his first singles match at DEFY Wrestling’s AEON 2 event that truly sparked early excitement.

Steven Borden won that match, teaming with Kiran Grey, and delivered a performance that impressed the crowd. The strong reaction showed that fans see real potential in him as he begins emerging from the shadow of his father’s iconic career.

Early Momentum in AEW

Steven Borden carried that momentum into his first match under the AEW banner. Before Dynamite: Winter Is Coming in Atlanta, Georgia, he competed in a dark match once again against Kiran Grey. Just like their earlier meeting, Steven Borden came out on top.

This win gives him an undefeated start to his AEW career, mirroring the early success his father experienced. Grey, a student of Darby Allin, has also appeared in Ring of Honor dark matches, adding another notable chapter to the rise of AEW’s next generation of wrestlers.
