How Tony D’Angelo’s Next Move was Teased at NXT Championship Contract Signing

The December 2, 2025 episode of NXT ended with an NXT Championship contract signing. This Saturday at Deadline, Oba Femi will face Ricky Saints in an effort to get back his championship. Femi lost the championship to Saints after a thrilling 263 day reign at No Mercy. He returned a few weeks ago to reclaim what he lost, which led to the match being official.

The contract signing closed the show for a few significant reasons. First, NXT General Manager Ava told them that the match would open Deadline on Saturday. Second, it was teased something would happen during the match. Ava got a mysterious package delivered to her earlier, with Tony D’Angelo’s bridge flashing on the screen during the contract signing. Would D’Angelo be returning to make an NXT Championship run, or will he deliver the loser to the main roster?

D’Angelo Still Has Unfinished Business in NXT

The last time D’Angelo was seen on NXT television was during a now infamous vignette. He was approached by a figure casting a shadow over him, and it’s been silence ever since. Five months later, and fans are still speculating what’s going on with him. There have been conversations about him going to the main roster. But the timing of the bridge teaser might lead to speculation about a proper NXT sendoff.

He has been NXT North American Champion, NXT Heritage Cup Champion, and NXT Tag Team Champion. But he has never been NXT Champion. His last match was winning the D’Angelo Family Battle, cementing himself as the Don of the D’Angelo Family. Without the NXT Championship, that title is meaningless, and he knows that. Coming back to NXT is a smart move for him. Becoming NXT Champion will surely make him the true Don of NXT.

He’s Going to “Take Care” of the Match’s Loser

Both Femi and Saints deserve to be on the main roster. Femi has had many epic championship defenses. Saints made a name for himself in NWA and AEW before having NXT success. D’Angelo has no doubt heard the fans’ cries to put them on the main roster. After all, he has had many instances of “taking care” of problems over the years.

Pretty Deadly got packed up and delivered to the main roster. Santos Escobar and Legado del Fantasma lost their Loser Leaves NXT match. Even Two Dimes, who got released and is now with AEW and ROH, got a farewell and eulogy from him. Having him “take care” of the match’s loser is a brilliant way to write them out of NXT. Given that the bridge teased was the bridge he loves to frequent, it’s clear he’ll play a big role in the match on Saturday.

The Bridge Teased D’Angelo’s Next Move

There have been tons of speculation surrounding D’Angelo’s future. Would he be joining the main roster? Could he still have more to do in NXT? What happened on Tuesday is a big clue about his next move. The bridge is clearly the bridge he’s associated with, and it flashed during the contract signing between Femi and Saints. He’ll be involved in some way, but no one knows for sure what he’ll do.

He could return and attack the winner of the match. That puts him straight into the NXT Championship picture, a title he has never won. However, he does have a history of bringing people to the main roster or into other companies. It would make sense if that’s how the loser gets written off NXT. Whatever happens on Saturday, it’s clear that the NXT Championship match will start of Deadline in a big way.
