Santos Escobar, the leader of Legado del Fantasma, has reportedly re-signed with WWE as per PWInsider. His contract officially expired on October 6, and he was a free agent after declining an initial higher salary offer.
Santos Escobar WWE History
The 41-year-old joined the company in 2019 and held the Cruiserweight Championship once during his 6-year tenure. Escobar last wrestled on WWE programming during the AAA x WWE Worlds Collide show on June 7. Alongside Angel and Berto, Legado del Fantasma defeated the team of El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr, Pagano and Psycho Clown.
Escobar has primarily been used as a manager for Angel and Berto, having only wrestled sporadically on television. In fact, Escobar has only had five televised matches in 2025, with his only singles affair being a loss to Rey Fenix.
The main roster run of Escobar has been underwhelming despite his heel turn on the LWO. This led to a feud with Rey Mysterio which culminated in a tag team loss to Mysterio and Andrade at WrestleMania XL. His numerous United States Championship chases have been unsuccessful.
The former El Hijo del Fantasma has over two decades of experience and is a supremely talented performer. His creative direction in WWE has been unclear as he has been underutilized over the past year. Perhaps his decision to re-sign may lead to something significant in the near future.
