Sports. Honestly. Since 2011

Has the “Main Event” Phenomenon Ended for Jey Uso in WWE?

Jey Uso made waves when he won the Royal Rumble match. He went on to defeat the soon-to-be. Jey’s World Championship run ended on the June 9, 2025, episode of Raw after 51 days with three defenses, including one disqualification loss. With just 10 months into 2025, Jey now needs other superstars to continue his story. Let’s explore whether this “Main Event” phenomenon has run its course and if the company should transition the former tag team champion into mid-card roles.

Jey Uso Reunites with Jimmy Uso to The Usos Magic

Jey Uso left Roman Reigns and The Bloodline to establish himself as a singles superstar. He parted ways with The Bloodline during the June 16, 2023, episode of SmackDown and aligned with his brother Jimmy Uso to oppose Reigns.

Jey left the villainous group and his brother on the August 11, 2023, episode of the blue brand after Jimmy betrayed him during the Tribal Combat match against The Original Tribal Chief at SummerSlam 2023. Following the split, Jey successfully created hype for himself as a solo act.

Two years is sufficient time for a split to be considered official. Jey worked diligently to build a name for himself as a singles superstar. While fans loved his presentation and still enjoy “Yeeting” with him, Jey’s “Main Event” push appears to have concluded.

He now relies on Jimmy Uso to address his challenges. The Usos have already competed in seven matches together this year, with three on television. This clearly indicates that Jey has struggled to sustain his singles stint, and the company needs to devise a new strategy to keep him relevant.

Roman Reigns Comes to Save Jey Uso

Jey Uso left Roman Reigns and The Bloodline because he felt his cousin was not doing things right on television. Two years later, it appears Roman was correct, as he has come to Jey’s aid on multiple occasions. While Roman played a heel role in 2023 and is now a babyface, the question remains whether Jey needs an anchor to stay relevant.

Shades of the past reemerged when Roman appeared during a recent episode of Raw. While some believe Jey may reconcile with the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, this could be the best way to resolve the challenges created by Triple H and his creative team.

Jey Uso Can Still Deliver as a Mid-Card Performer

Jey Uso has capitalized on his fan-favorite status, which has earned him several World Championship matches. Although he enjoyed a World title run, it is evident that the junior Uso struggles to perform at the “Main Event” level. Jey can still excel as a mid-card performer. He could pursue the Intercontinental Championship from Dominik Mysterio and hold the title for a second time, or challenge for the United States Championship held by Sami Zayn.

This may not be an “Ucey” moment for Zayn, but it would be intriguing to see how these former on-screen brothers compete against each other. Alternatively, the former Right Hand Man to Roman in The Bloodline could work with his real-life brother Jimmy Uso to dominate the Tag Team Division. It will be fascinating to see how the company manages the Jey Uso situation moving forward.
