Why WWE Needs to Rethink the Roman Reigns Story

Roman Reigns returned during a recent episode of Raw and attacked The Vision. He has been at odds with Seth Rollins’ group for a considerable time. While it was exciting to see The Original Bloodline back, with Jey and Jimmy Uso alongside Reigns during the closing moments of Raw, the company needs to rethink this storyline. Here’s our take on why Roman Reigns needs a different path forward for the remainder of this year.

The Bloodline Is Not Together

The Bloodline is not united on SmackDown at this time. Roman Reigns is on Raw, while Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso are on the red brand, working as a team. Solo Sikoa leads his own group, My Family Tree, and Sami Zayn is the current United States Champion. These performers were once united alongside Paul Heyman and were beloved despite being heels.

Roman has had an excellent run, and his “Original Tribal Chief” moniker has elevated him on multiple levels. He doesn’t need others to stay relevant, and the company should avoid placing him in a storyline involving Jey and Jimmy Uso. If WWE follows this familiar route, Reigns may not have anything new to offer, even though most members (except Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman) are now babyfaces.

Roman Reigns Can Build a New The Bloodline

Roman Reigns’ experience as the leader of The Bloodline was marred by betrayal or members leaving midway. He could build a new version of the group, starting with Jacob Fatu. Jacob could handle any obstacles in Reigns’ way, setting the stage for a potential showdown between the two later.

Reigns also has Zilla Fatu’s support, even though Zilla is not with WWE. Roman could bring in other superstars and call the group “The Power” as a direct counter to Seth Rollins’ “The Vision.” He could even deliver a line like, “Vision without Power means nothing.” This could pave the way for a clash between the two factions down the line. While it may not happen immediately, if WWE builds this storyline, The Original Tribal Chief and his new supporters could dominate everyone in their path.

Roman Reigns and Bron Breakker Need a Singles Match

Roman Reigns and Bron Breakker both have the spear in their arsenals and deliver it effectively, but they’ve been on opposing sides. Bron speared Roman during this year’s Royal Rumble match, and Reigns attacked Breakker on a recent Raw episode. This presents a perfect opportunity for WWE to build a storyline between the two without involving members of The Vision or Reigns’ former Bloodline allies.

The next major premium live event, Crown Jewel Perth, is an ideal stage for a match between them. Roman could help elevate Bron or deliver a strong performance before Breakker’s ally, Bronson Reed, gets involved. This could set up a larger feud pitting Reigns and his former Bloodline members against Breakker, Reed, and Seth Rollins.

Roman Reigns Can Be John Cena’s Last Opponent

John Cena has only a few dates left in his retirement tour, with his final match scheduled for the Saturday Night’s Main Event show on December 13, 2025. Roman has had remarkable storylines throughout his career, and it would be a mistake to exclude The Original Tribal Chief from Cena’s retirement tour entirely.

While Cena can’t face every opponent from his two-decade career, he could build a compelling match with Reigns, similar to his bout against AJ Styles at Crown Jewel Perth.

Though it may seem speculative now, WWE would likely embrace the idea of pitting two of its greatest wrestlers against each other. It would be a fitting way for Cena to retire. Cena could face the best in the business, keeping Reigns away from Jey Uso and related storylines. The former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion would likely be willing to take a three-count for The Greatest of All Time.
