ZSJ and Konosuke Takeshita Meet in the Ring for the First Time
One of the most highly anticipated matches in this year’s tournament, IWGP World Heavyweight champion Zack Sabre Jr. will wrestle Konosuke Takeshita for the first time in their careers. Both men are coming off wins in their previous matches, but Takeshita is currently above ZSJ in the standings and has won two consecutive matches.
ZSJ has only one decisive victory in the tournament so far, with his first two points coming from Gabe Kidd’s forfeiture. Meanwhile, Takeshita aims to possibly grab a share of the lead in their block, currently held by YOSHI-HASHI. With the current trajectory of these two men, their first-ever singles match is a guaranteed must-watch.
Ren Narita Shoots for the Top Spot
Ren Narita is having himself a fine G1 Climax so far. Gabe Kidd’s withdrawal from the tournament secured him two more points, and then he added to it by winning his previous match against Shota Umino, propelling himself to eight points.
While he is tied with YOSHI-HASHI, he is in second place because he lost to him on day two. He looks to skip over YOSHI-HASHI and take the block’s top spot. Narita has to go through a fresher Drilla Moloney, whose last tournament match was on day four, six days ago.
Also on the card, Shota Umino and Shingo Takagi will face each other for the third time this year, while NJPW World TV champion El Phantasmo clashes with Great O-Khan.
