Following the spectacular Evolution PLE, Triple H fielded questions at the post-show where he addressed the Seth Rollins injury from Saturday Night’s Main Event offering fans an update that was not music to fans’ ears.
Triple H said Rollins was there at Evolution to offer his support to Becky Lynch in her Women’s Intercontinental Championship triple threat and that today, he’d be going to Birmingham to see the doctors and get an MRI. As of yesterday, Triple H said the results were inconclusive, however things didn’t look good.
Seth Rollins Injury Could Impact a Lot of Current Storylines
WrestleMania 41 altered WWE’s landscape with Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins right at the center of it. Rollins emerged from the WrestleMania triple threat not only the winner of the match, but the winner of the Oracle, having stolen Roman Reigns’ wiseman and CM Punk’s best friend in the process. It was a pivotal moment for Rollins and one that began what had until this past Saturday, been a total domination over both brands.
Alongside Bron Breakker and later Bronson Reed, Rollins and Heyman have been riding an extraordinary wave of momentum culminating in Rollins becoming Mr. Money in the Bank in June. Over the past month, Rollins’ has wielded the power of the briefcase in such a way that champions on both brands were put on notice. In addition, Rollins has utilized his faction to assert his dominance by taking out both friend and foe. Rollins made it clear he was going after anyone who stood in his way and thus far, he had kept good on that promise.
Then Saturday Night’s Main Event happened, putting a halt to Rollins’ reign of terror. After getting on the wrong side of Rollins and the boys, LA Knight has been in the crosshairs of the Two Bron Power Trip or as CM Punk calls them, ‘Bron Bron.’ This led to Knight and Rollins going after each other in recent weeks, culminating in a SNME clash. The match started as normal, with both men looking for opportunities to gain control. As the bout continued, the heat picked up. It looked like Rollins and Knight were on the verge of an instant classic before tragedy struck. Rollins attempted a moonsault but landed awkwardly, immediately falling to the mat and clutching his knee. Medical staff came out to check on him and Rollins gave the go-ahead for the match to continue. However, immediately after, the Visionary limped right into the BFT and it became very clear something was wrong. Seth Rollins injury was all but confirmed as he could be heard screaming out in pain in several fan videos upon the bad landing, and following the match, he needed to be helped to the back.

The Seth Rollins injury is a devastating blow to one of WWE’s top and most consistent stars. If Rollins misses any significant time, of which is likely expected, that forces a lot of changes. Rollins seemed poised not only to win the match against Knight but also to head into SummerSlam where he’d perhaps cash in the briefcase to win another world title. Now, the fate of that briefcase also hangs in the balance as it’s unknown if/when Rollins would be back to cash it in. That creates an interesting scenario for WWE where Breakker and Reed are concerned. WWE already began to tease Breakker turning on Rollins to become the guy, and it was rumored should that happen, Heyman would stick with Breakker. With Rollins gone, WWE may need to rely on that story sooner rather than later as it will be up to Breakker and Reed to keep Rollins’ masterplan at the forefront. Could that ultimately include the briefcase changing hands with Breakker somehow finding a way to secure it from his boss and cash it in himself? WWE could easily play around with the rules there and have the briefcase be vacated the same way a title would be. Or they could play a sort of freebird rules with the briefcase, which would allow Breakker or even Reed to cash it in should the opportunity present itself.
A lot will be determined on how much time Seth Rollins needs to miss with this injury. It should be noted that Rollins only wrestled 23 matches in 2024, missing time both before and after WrestleMania due to an MCL injury other chronic injury issues stemming from his first knee injury over five years ago. Between May and September of that year, Rollins only wrestled one match, a triple threat at Money in the Bank.
