Tyrese Haliburton is primed for a pretty big week. On Wednesday, Haliburton will lead his Indiana Pacers into the NBA Eastern Conference Finals against Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks. On Monday, WWE looked back on the wrestling side of this NBA rivalry, recounting when Haliburton, who was just announced as one of the NBA stars who will be transformed into a playable character as part of the Dunks and Destruction WWE 2K25 DLC coming out in June, and Brunson, last shared a ring at Madison Square Garden in June 2024.
Haliburton appeared via video for a chat with Michael Cole (a Knicks fan) and Pat McAfee (a Pacers fan) about the upcoming ECF and the longstanding Knicks/Pacers rivalry. “It’s like Rock/Austin,” Haliburton remarked as he talked about the decades long heat between the two organizations and the past battles they’ve shared. Haliburton, one of the league’s top stars, is now in the middle of it alongside another of the NBA’s rising talents in Brunson.
Haliburton and Brunson have continued WWE’s unique crossover connection with the NBA, which has featured tons of top names in the league appearing over the last several decades. It is unknown if Haliburton and Brunson will share a ring again but they will share an arena and fans should expect MSG to be electric, much like it was a year ago when these two brought their NBA rivalry to the squared circle.
