When the MLW Battle Riot VII Preview went online, not all the matches were set in stone yet. We didn’t know the names of all 40 Battle Riot participants. Additionally, due to an injury, MLW World Middleweight Champion Místico was unable to defend against Templario. MLW President Cesar Duran instead announced Templario, Hechicero, and Esfinge would collide in a Triple Threat encounter. Also, Sessions by Saint Laurent were added to the show.

Some Battle Riot VII Interesting Facts
Alex Hammerstone is back and wants the World Championship
To kick off the show, the new MLW President, Cesar Duran, had a surprise for the fans. A “franchise player” was back, and his name was Alex Hammerstone. The crowd went nuts. Hammerstone grabbed the mic to say he was entering the Battle Riot match for the MLW World Championship, targeting Matt Riddle. He was the first entrant in the Riot match and spent 53 minutes in the ring, only to be defeated by Riddle. Hammerstone was very impressive, clearing the ring of almost everyone at mid-match, but he failed to defeat Riddle.

Some Battle Riot big debuts
Raj Dhesi (formerly WWE’s Jinder Mahal), Chris Adonis, Bishop Dyer (formerly WWE’s Baron Corbin), Rob Van Dam, as well as indie stars like Titus Alexander and Anthony Greene, made their MLW debut in the Battle Riot match. Dhesi entered at #2 and impressed the crowd as he held on until the #19 entrant came. Hammerstone eliminated him. Chris Adonis entered at #22; he did a pose-down with Hammerstone before they started fighting. Riddle tossed him out of the ring a good 10 minutes later.
THE SURPRISES CONTINUE!! 😮@alexhammerstone enters Battle RIOT at No. 1, followed by @RajTheMaharaja at No. 2!

Bishop Dyer already made his presence felt earlier and arrived pretty late in the Riot as entrant #31. He reached the Final Four with his new bro Dijak, but there were other “bros” with them in the ring. That was not Riddle and Lawlor, but Riddle and RVD. To my surprise, RVD had never competed in an MLW ring before. They did a “too sweet,” they didn’t smoke in the ring, but Riddle had no issue pushing him off to the floor to win the match and retain the MLW World Championship.
DAM! @therealRVD shocked LA! pic.twitter.com/yQCqKMHud5

Delmi Exo dethroned
Nakajima, one of Japan’s most celebrated and decorated wrestlers, was making her debut on behalf of TJPW as that fight promotion and MLW have forged an ongoing relationship. Delmi Exo did her best, but Nakajima unloaded suplexes, kicks, and dives at the speed of light. The new MLW Featherweight Champion is talented in the ring, has a fun character, and has the right amount of charisma. Her name is Shoko Nakajima, and she won’t be afraid to defend.
AND NEW ‼️ Join us in congratulating Shoko Nakajima, who just captured the MLW Women’s World Featherweight Championship at #MLWRiot!

Lucha Libre extravaganza
Thanks to a fruitful partnership with CMLL, MLW has been offering the fans the best of Lucha Libre. At Battle Riot VII, the CMLL wrestlers were involved in 2 matches and the Riot. These matches are always unpredictable and action-packed. And that was the case last night with good fun Lucha action, high-flying maneuvers, and over-the-top-rope craziness.
Now THAT is how you start a Riot!#MLWRiot ⭐️ https://t.co/wN1Nj1llQl pic.twitter.com/WhWa5DSc8p

The Best of The Rest
- Caristico vacated his MLW Middleweight title due to injury before Ikuro Kwon rushed, sprayed red mist on Cesar Duran’s face, and stole the belt.
- Jana Kai defeated TJPW’s HIMAWARI, showing the Kick Demon has her eyes set on the MLW Featherweight title.
- Sessions by Saint Laurent – Matt Riddle and Tom Lawlor came to the ring and said it’s a big night for MLW and himself. Saint Laurent struck Lawlor. Donovan Dijak jumped in the ring and stomped on Riddle. Bishop Dyer jumped in the ring and hit Riddle with a chair. Some security guards got in the ring, but Dijak and Dyer, the new Bros, beat them all up.
DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?!? 🤯@caristicomx vacates his MLW Middleweight title due to injury, before @The_IkuroKwon mists @RealCesarDuran and steals the championship!#MLWRiot ▶️ https://t.co/wN1Nj1llQl pic.twitter.com/78BlcTCUUb

The Nygma’s Point of View
MLW Battle Riot VII was a very good show. The Lucha Libre matches were really enjoyable. About the TJPW ladies, even if HIMAWARI didn’t win, she impressed when Shoko Nakajima took us by surrprise winning the title. Riddle may have won but he now has a lot on his plate with Mads Krule Krügger still having his Championship match contract, Hammerstone ready to compete, and now Dijak and Dyer as a team.
To be honest, Riddle is the worst Champion the company deserves to have. Next to Champs like Jacob Fatu, Alex Hammerstone, Alex Kane, or Satoshi Kojima, Riddle looks like a cheap one. Anyone defeating Riddle will be my hero. But that’s just a Nygma point of view…
MEAT vs MEAT@ChrisAdonis has entered the Battle RIOT and is going face to face vs. @alexhammerstone!#MLWRiot 🥩 https://t.co/wN1Nj1llQl pic.twitter.com/s6jk8eccqZ
