AEW Dynamite makes its final stop before Revolution in Sacramento. At the time of writing, only two matches and one segment are official. It’s a familiar trend that shows AEW’s growing confidence.
A string of weekly shows gave us the triple threat of bangers, emotive verbiage, and memorable visuals that have put some credit into AEW’s account. Expectations are high. We know from prior weeks and Collision that there will be surprises.
Maybe Mark Briscoe vs. Gabe Kidd. Perhaps an appearance from the Costa Guys. More than likely, several final big moments to build up to Revolution’s most anticipated matches. Speaking of which, if you’re looking for deep dives for Adam Page vs. MJF or The Hollywood Ending between “Timeless” Toni Storm and Mariah May, click the links to read our Match Point guides.
The two matches announced gamble with expectations in two different ways. Cope vs. Wheeler Yuta could be an angle disguised as a match.
It could be a chance for character growth or development for Yuta. Could it be a surprised banger?
Pop.

Gamble of the Night: Women’s Tag Team Action
The post-match confusion between Thunder Rosa, Penelope Ford, and Megan Bayne created some outrage. Controversy in wrestling, as I wrote about recently, is embedded as part of the weekly grind of the wrestling fandom. Regardless, the interaction was set up to this subsequent match.
For many, the post-match chaos didn’t detract from the explosive and raw power of Kris Statlander vs. Megan Bayne. This feud is not over. Especially given the dirty finish where Ford aligned herself with The Greek Goddess.
The chances are good that we’ll get at least a few moments of Statlander and Bayne colliding again. Their chemistry and heavy hitting were complimentary. Somewhat godly.
The risk comes in the form of their partners. Ford’s performances since her return from injury have been hit and miss, very dependent on her opponent. Ford is still finding form.
Rosa in-ring excites and inspires. Yet, the post-match chaos brought back discussion of rumors from her AEW Women’s World Championship reign.
But controversy in wrestling can be turned into currency. Converted into something greater.
No. 1 Contendership Contract Signing
When Swerve Strickland signs a contract, the promo and animosity that comes before the pen hits the paper is usually unmissable. Each time, the stakes are personal and guarantee some significant change post-PPV. Given the feud and stakes, this one will likely be no different.
Last week’s addition of the number one contendership for the AEW World Championship to Swerve Strickland vs. Ricochet is an inspiring addition. Adding weight not just to this hotly anticipated rematch, but it also presents stakes for each man’s character.
Strickland again finds himself in a position where he has created his own nemesis. This version of Ricochet was in part formed by Strickland’s mockery. Draped in towel paper at first but, after a cheap victory via accidental low blow, Ricochet drapes himself in the Embassy robe.
Ricochet has already stabbed Strickland in the head with gold scissors. What’s to say the same doesn’t happen again? Or will Strickland, now more aggressive and striving to be the killer that made him the AEW World Champion, have something hideous planned as a final retort?
Like those previous contract signings, the men who commit to Sunday’s match are not the same ones who started this feud. After Revolution, both will change again.
