The Road to Wrestle’Yeet’ia

For the second week in a row, Jey Uso opened Monday Night Raw and in what has become a trend of late, continued receiving a hero’s welcome. But as Uso was enjoying his Yeet encore with the raucous Nashville crowd, Gunther came out and attacked the Royal Rumble winner from behind. Gunther wasted no time laying the boots and hands to Uso, who was barely able to fight back. The sneak attack worked and Gunther’s words from last week rang true. While Uso has not yet decided who he’ll face at WrestleMania, Gunther isn’t wasting anytime delivering on his promise to make Uso’s life a living hell. As Gunther was pulled off of Uso by security, he told his would be foe, “don’t do it, Jey.”

But Uso wasn’t done. With his back on the mat and Gunther continuing to taunt and berate him, he grabbed the mic and addressed the world champ with a few simple words, “me and you at WrestleMania.” Gunther didn’t take the news well and ran back to the ring where this time, Uso was able to take advantage going over the ropes and taking out Gunther.

The WrestleMania card officially has its first match.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley was with Rhea Ripley who addressed Charlotte Flair’s own WrestleMania decision. Ripley was joined backstage by IYO SKY and Dakota Kai as Sky made it clear she’s coming for the women who cost her a chance to be in the Elimination Chamber.

A video package aired hyping up the Creed Brothers vs the War Raiders, which is happening later tonight.

Judgment Day vs Damage CTRL

Liv Morgan and SKY began the match but Morgan quickly tagged out. Raquel Rodriguez in with SKY with Rodriguez taking an early lead before SKY took over. A. tag in to Kai, who made quick work of Rodriguez. Quick tag in to Morgan, but Kai tagged to SKY. Morgan tried to tag out but to no success. SKY went after Morgan until Rodriguez was able to tag in. The early going of the match provided a lot of quick tags for both teams as each looked to gain an advantage over the other. Morgan and Rodriguez began to take over with double team moves leading to Rodriguez with the nearfall on SKY. Morgan and Rodriguez continued quick tags, not letting SKY really catch her breath and game plan her opponent. Rodriguez back in, using her power to continue the assault on SKY, but SKY countered into a sleeper hold and used the opportunity to get Kai back in the match. Kai came in hot, using a flurry of quick moves to get a nearfall on Rodriguez. Kai continue to dominate Rodriguez and Morgan but then Rodriguez dodged a kick sending Kai right into the ring post. Back in the ring, Rodriguez maintained control for a bit until Kai and Rodriguez both made hot tags. The two immediately went after each other with SKY taking advantage and taking out both Morgan and Rodriguez with a suicide dive through the ropes. With Morgan back in the ring, SKY headed to the top rope and hit a huge missile dropkick. She hyped up the crowd and landed the bullet train to Morgan in the corner. Another nearfall for Damage CTRL. Now it was Damage CTRL’s time for a double team as SKY tagged in Kai and almost got the win over Judgment Day but no, Rodriguez broke up the pin. Rodriguez took advantage, throwing Morgan on top of Kai before taking out SKY. Morgan with oblivion on Kai, but no, SKY breaks up the pinfall. “This is Awesome” chants begin as its shown Morgan is busted open. SKY and Morgan back in the ring with each countering the other. SKY gets Morgan in the center of the ring, hits the over the moonsault, This one is a wrap.

A replay of Kevin Owens’ brutal attack on Sami Zayn is shown along with audio from Owens’ recent social media post where he explained his actions saying all Zayn did was watch as Cody Rhodes tried to end his career, but during the rumble, he helped Roman Reigns. Owens said Zayn did nothing for him, calling him a horrible friend, disgusting human being, and that it was all his fault. He promised to never forgive him and make him pay. Michael Cole announced as a result of Owens’ actions, Zayn suffered severe injuries and wasn’t at Raw tonight.

A clip showed promoting WWE LFG with Gunther talking to the new recruits and sharing the hard truths.

Bayley vs Lyra Valkyria

Bayley and Lyra Valkyria lock up to start the match, feeling each other out and trying to get an advantage. The two are evenly matched as Bayley proposes the show of strength and gets Valkyria to the mat. The two continue their back and forth in their battle of oneupsmanship. Dueling chants by the crowd as the two women continue battling. Valkyria with the first real advantage of the match, countering Bayley into a series of nearfalls. Back up, Bayley drops Valkyria to the mat before Valkyria drops Bayley on the outside. The match continued its surgical, methodical pace with Valkyria working Bayley’s arm. Things started to pick up a bit with Valkyria looking for a move off the top rope but no, Bayley moves out of the way and hits a huge sunset flip bomb into the corner. Bayley to the top rope but no, Valkyria gets the knees up and catches the elbow. Bayley-to-belly but Valkyria kicks out. Valkyria counters the rose plant but Bayley is able to reverse for a pin. 1-2-3, Bayley is headed to the Elimination Chamber.

After the match, Bayley and Valkyria hug as Valkyria raises Bayley’s hand. Great show of respect for one of her idols.

Video shows of Penta reacting to the attack from behind by Pete Dunne and Ludwig Kaiser calling them cowards and promising revenge. Backstage, Jackie Redmond is with Kaiser who responds by saying he’s not going to stop going after Penta. Dunne interrupts saying he wasn’t helping him but he just got in the way. Dunne promises to break Penta next week and Kaiser says he’ll back off though the look on his face seems to say otherwise. AJ Styles walks by Kaiser to make his way toward the ring.

Backstage with Alpha Academy, Valkyria, and American Made. Ivy Nile confronts Valkyria promising to take her Intercontinental Championship but first, the Creed Brothers are leaving Nashville with the tag titles.

AJ Styles’ Nashville Homecoming

In the same arena where AJ Styles was injured, the same city that helped make Styles’ career during his time in TNA, the Phenomenal One returned to a huge ovation of fans chanting his name. It was a true homecoming for the city’s unofficial native son. Styles talked about having deja vu as four months ago, he returned to his stomping ground to get his career back on track, but instead he got injured. The crowd chanted “welcome back,” as Styles soaked it all in saying he thought it was over that night as his injury could have been career ending. But he knew he still had gas in the tank and something to prove. Getting back was difficult but it was worth it because here he was in Nashville telling the fans that he’s back with a long to do list. Casual glance over at the WrestleMania sign. Styles wanted to remind the locker room he was still the Phenomenal One. Before he could continue, he was interrupted by none other than Dominik Mysterio and Carlito. The boos reigned down on Dirty Dom, trying to drown out Judgment Day. Mysterio essentially had to recite his promo three words at a time and it was fantastic. Mysterio and Carlito got frustrated and broke out the Spanish as they told Styles and the crowd that Judgment Day runs Raw. “Dom, you suck” chants broke out as Styles reminded Mysterio he was right, things have changed. No Damian Priest, no Ripley, no Finn Balor. The group isn’t what Styles expected as all he sees is a guy in purple skinny jeans (Carlito) and a guy no one likes (Mysterio). Styles admitted he was inspired by Mysterio’s work ethic but reminded him, he’ll always be “Rey Mysterio’s punk ass kid.” Mysterio didn’t take kindly to that and attacked Styles. Styles with a pele kick to Carlito but once again, the numbers game played into Judgment Day’s favor. Styles and Carlito brawled as Styles hit the phenomenal forearm to send Judgment Day back up the ramp. Welcome back, AJ!

Elimination Chamber Tease

Redmond interviews Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins, who entered through the crowd. Redmond asked Rollins about the Elimination Chamber and his matchup with Balor next week. Rollins said his path to WrestleMania was getting clearer. Uso decided he’s taking on Gunther, which means all eyes are on Rhodes and the WWE Championship. Rollins promised to win the chamber before Balor showed up to join the interview. Balor said all eyes were on Rollins and his downfall, that they all see the cracks, seeing him lose to Punk and losing his mind at the rumble. Balor says the only thing standing in his way now is a guy who’s fallen apart. Rollins asks if Balor really believes it, telling him they go back a long way and anyone knows any time they get in the ring, they put on a show. But, he’s got unfinished business with Punk and some other lose ends with Rhodes so the way he sees it, Balor is in his way not the other way around. But after next week, Balor won’t be standing at all.

Styles was backstage with Adam Pearce, who granted him a match next week against Dirty Dom. As Pearce left, Bron Breakker walked by and he and Styles stared each other down.

World Tag Team Championship: American Made vs War Raiders

Brutus and Erik starting things off but quick tag to Ivar. Julius tags in and American Made with a series of quick tags and double teams. Ivar tags Erik back in as War Raiders take advantage using their physicality and strength. Quick tags from the champs now with a huge tag team move as Erik sends Ivar directly into Julius. Sit out powerbomb from Erik but Julius kicks off. War Raiders continue to control the match until Julius takes over. Brutus back in, double team knee and slam for a nearfall. Tag in to Julius as the two continue to beat down Erik in the far corner. More double teams from the Creeds who get another nearfall after a slam on Erik. Erik finally manages the tag to Ivar, who comes in hot and takes out Brutus with a flying crossbody before sit down bomb and swinging kick. Ivar gets the crowd chanting “war,” sending Brutus into the corner. Sit out powerbomb for the nearfall. All four men in the ring as War Raiders get another nearfall on a double team. Ivar back in but Julius takes Erik down off the apron. Angle slam for Brutus but Ivar kicks out. Both Creeds in the ring as Ivar hits a springboard before going to the top rope. Ivy Nile on the apron causes the distraction allowing Julius to jump onto the top rope and hit a huge superplex moonsault combination. Huge move and almost gets the pin but Erik breaks it up, saving the titles. “This is awesome” chants again as the match continues with Erik and Brutus. Tag to Ivar. War Raiders go for the double team but Julius hits Ivar with the title. Creeds lose by disqualification but they continue the assault, holding the titles up high. Chad Gable said they needed to have the titles when he returned, he didn’t say they had to win them…

Backstage, Balor tells Judgment Day they have to listen to him but Mysterio says things are going to turn around. Balor says Styles made him look like a fool but Mysterio says Balor is the fool for not helping them. Mysterio suggests adding a new member to Judgment Day during JD McDonagh’s injury but Balor shuts it down saying he’s going to fix things and become world champion at WrestleMania.

SKY and Kai are backstage when Ripley approaches saying she doesn’t owe SKY anything. But she’s giving her a match because she wants to. So in three weeks on the Raw after the chamber, its Ripley vs SKY for the title.

Another clip from WWE LFG with CM Punk talking to the large group of recruits. Punk challenges everyone to take the mic from him and cut a promo.

CM Punk is Winning the Elimination Chamber

Punk is welcomed by cheers from the Nashville faithful as he looks up at the WrestleMania sign. Punk says he told everyone he was going to win the Royal Rumble but he didn’t. He’s disappointed in himself but he’s not mad at Jey Uso. He likes seeing people accomplish their goals and his goal is still alive and with Uso going after Gunther, he has to stab Rhodes in the front like he said last week. Punk threw shade at John Cena saying two people qualified but one didn’t. He was upset about it, but he no longer is. Cena is a legend and deserves to call his shot. But Punk said the bad news for Cena is he busted his ass and in the chamber, he’s going to beat the crap out of him and go to WrestleMania. Punk said Drew McIntyre has also qualified but he’s no longer on Raw because he ran away from Punk. Punk promises to beat McIntyre just as bad in the chamber as he did during Hell in a Cell. Punk moves on to Rollins and says either Balor or Rollins could qualify but whoever it is doesn’t matter as he is going to win the chamber. Punk says he’s never been more confident as he points to the sign again. Punk says WrestleMania 41 belongs to him.

Logan Paul shows up and the boos reign down much like they did earlier with Mysterio. Paul says he can’t say the names on TV that he wants to call Punk. Paul says he doesn’t understand why he’s booed and Punk is cheered. Paul reminds Punk he threw him out in the rumble and it was the greatest 15 minutes of Punk’s fame in his career. Paul says he has his number but tonight, it’s Mysterio who is going to lose to Paul. Punk says he didn’t mention Paul because he forget about him. Punk says not to worry about him because the number he pulled is 619. If he does get past Mysterio tonight, he can worry about Punk who will put him to sleep in the chamber. Enter Mysterio as this match is about to get underway. Punk meets Mysterio on the ramp and they exchange shows of respect before Mysterio makes his way to the ring. Paul still with the mic says Punk and Mysterio are both deadbeats. He says its an honor to be in the ring with the second greatest Mysterio and tells him he’s not here for attention or to get famous, he already is. He’s not here to make money. He does this because he wants to compete, because he loves pro wrestling, and he loved taking the US title from Mysterio and is about to take his chamber spot too.

Rey Mysterio vs Logan Paul

Mysterio starts hot, immediately putting the boots to Paul, who rolls out of the ring. Paul back in the ring but Mysterio maintains his advantage as veteran experience wins out early. Mysterio with right hands to Paul in the corner as “Logan sucks” chants ring out. Mysterio runs at Paul but a huge tilt-a-whirl from Paul has him take over the match. Paul gets Mysterio into the corner with a series of rights as he taunts the legend. Paul with knees to Mysterio before dropping him down with a slam for the nearfall. Paul continued the ground and pound assault on Mysterio, utilizing his boxing background to keep Mysterio off his feet. But Mysterio finally gets the quick edge and hits a huge corkscrew plancha over the top to take out Paul on the outside. Paul and Mysterio fight on the apron as Mysterio climbs to the top. Paul follows him up and hits a huge moonsault on Mysterio. Incredible athleticism there takes both guys to the mat. Paul finally rolls over for the cover but Mysterio grabs the ropes breaking up the pin. Paul continues dominating as the action goes outside of the ring. Paul targets Mysterio’s ribs but no, Mysterio is able to send Paul into the barricade and give himself a breather. Both men back in the ring but Paul is first to his feet as he uses his power to wear down Mysterio. Paul with the military press of Mysterio over his head before splash and another nearfall. Paul is having a showcase but Mysterio isn’t giving up. Paul with more body shots to Mysterio in the corner. Mysterio fights back briefly but Paul is there to take him back to the mat before throwing him out of the ring. Mysterio eggs him on and Paul and Mysterio brawl outside of the ring. Paul into the barricade but Mysterio countered as he tries to continue his attack. Paul drags Mysterio out of the ring and tries to slam him into the steps but no, Mysterio counters sending Paul into the steps. Bit of a momentum shifter as Mysterio hits the slide through the ropes onto Paul. Back in the ring, Mysterio to the top with a senton and springboard moonsault for a nearfall. Mysterio looking to set up the 619 sending Paul down with a hurricanrana. Paul to the corner, avoiding the 619 so Mysterio to the ropes with the punches before Paul counters and hits a springboard moonsault of his own. This time Mysterio kicks out. Mysterio with a counter and another nearfall on Paul, who’s showing his frustration. And there it is, the set-up for the 619, but no, Paul with a huge boot and huge boos to counter the move. Paul taunts Mysterio but Mysterio gets Paul up with a sit out powerbomb. Paul kicks out. Mysterio finally lnds the 619 and gets to the top but no, Paul gets the knees up and hits the paulverizer. This one is over. Paul to the chamber.

New Day attack Mysterio as Raw goes off the air. And that’s a wrap on WWE Raw tonight.
