On January 14, 2025, in an episode of WWE NXT, Roxanne Perez cut a promo after losing the NXT Women’s Championship to Giulia. She talked about how the women’s division won’t be the same without her, signaling a callup. But before she could finish, Bayley came out to speak to her. Tense words were exchanged, ending with both women brawling.
But that hasn’t been the only dust-up they’ve had since then. Roxanne was ringside during Bayley’s WWE Women’s Championship loss against Tiffany Stratton on Friday Night SmackDown.
She was also there during her fight against Nia Jax on Monday Night Raw, leading to another brawl. It seems like she is following Bayley everywhere. That is actually a good decision. If you want to introduce someone to a new audience, what Roxanne Perez did is proving to be an effective method.
Having Roxanne Perez Everywhere Gave Her More Exposure
It’s no secret that there are a lot of fans who only watch Raw and SmackDown for various reasons. Most of the time, a wrestler’s call-up is a person’s introduction to that wrestler. Having Roxanne appear on both main roster shows definitely got more eyes on her.
Doing that not only alerted people about her match with Bayley but also made them wonder about her accomplishments in NXT. Instead of staying at the performance center, she continued the storyline in front of thousands of people.
Having people’s first glimpse of her being a brawl against Bayley made them realize that she’s a big deal. NXT and the main roster are two completely different playing fields. Making a first impression by attacking a major player in the women’s division could help her tremendously once her NXT run is finished.
She Has the Chance to End Her NXT Run on a High Note
When a champion or former champion gets called up from NXT, their last match is usually a championship loss, or they’re putting someone over. In Roxanne’s case, it was the latter, with Giulia winning the Women’s NXT Championship. WWE could’ve held her off TV until the Royal Rumble but opted for a probable final goodbye last Tuesday.
That turned into the storyline and eventual match coming up. Whether she wins or loses, she’ll get an automatic storyline with Bayley upon her call-up.
She gets to potentially wrestle her final NXT match against an amazing wrestler who has been on the main roster for years. Roxanne Perez gets to have a proper sendoff from NXT, which, given her many accomplishments with the brand, is well deserved.
Roxanne and Bayley Just Made the Women’s Royal Rumble More Interesting
The Royal Rumble is taking place on February 1, which is only a week and a half away. Both Roxanne and Bayley will certainly be in the match. There’s a chance that they could miss each other entirely. But more than likely, they will come face to face with each other. Depending on who wins their match, the loser could throw the winner out of the ring.
That right there is the justification for an automatic main roster feud. After their WWE NXT fight, they could properly feud on the main roster without only a week’s build.
By having Roxanne Perez appear on both SmackDown and Raw to watch and confront Bayley, they are getting her familiar with the audience while also getting her ready for her main roster run.
