Cosm and WWE logos used to announce partnership for Shared Reality of events

WWE and Cosm to Bring ‘Shared Reality’ to Future Events through Multiple Locations Starting with 2025 Royal Rumble

Continuing to showcase its understanding of the ever-evolving media market, WWE announced a new multi-year, multi-event partnership with Cosm, an immersive entertainment, media, and technology company at the forefront of the innovative concept of ‘Shared Reality.’ Through this partnership, which begins with the upcoming 2025 Royal Rumble in Indianapolis, fans at two Cosm venues, one in Dallas, and one in Los Angeles (and additional venues coming soon to Atlanta and Detroit), will be able to take in an immersive experience that will have them feeling as if they were attending the actual events in person despite being miles and miles away.

In the announced release, WWE described that “Cosm’s experiential venues in Los Angeles (Hollywood Park) and Dallas (Grandscape) – both major hotspots for WWE fans and previous WrestleMania host cities – feature large-scale 87-foot-diameter 12K+ LED domes that bridge the virtual and physical worlds by merging state-of-the-art visuals with the energy and atmosphere of the crowd alongside an elevated food and beverage service.”

Cosm and the Idea of ‘Shared Reality’

Through Cosm’s venues, fans who may not be able to travel all around the world, will still have access to a live event experience. This includes the upcoming Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam among others. Notably, if this includes the 2026 Royal Rumble from Saudi Arabia, fans in the United States could experience that kind of internal event without ever needing a passport.

“At Cosm, we bring fans together to experience the biggest and best events in the world, wherever those events may be taking place,” said Peter Murphy, Senior Vice President of Media and Content, Cosm in the announcement. “Now, we get to showcase the WWE in Shared Reality, delivering another incredible way for fans to experience their shared passion.”

So, what exactly is Shared Reality?

As Cosm defines it, shared reality “brings immersive experiences to physical spaces.” Through a specific display, Cosm’s technology helps surround the entire audience, ostensibly transforming their venues into anything and everything. Through shared reality you can, “step onto the field of your favorite sporting event, take a trip through space, or enjoy front-row concert seats with your friends.” Shared Reality, as Cosm describes, is meant to give fans the best of both worlds, combining a virtual reality experience with that of being there live and in person.

The origin of this type of technology dates back to the 1940s when a form of early virtual reality was pioneered that exists today through planetariums and science centers. This technology began to really take off in the 60s and 70s, clearing the way for other such experiences as the first VR headset and the launch of a 3-D planetarium. As technology began to evolve, so did our views on how to blend the real with the surreal, leading to vertical integration in the early 2000s. In 2020, a joint initiative between some of the greatest innovators in technology led to the creation of Cosm, which at the 2022 Winter Olympics, helped produce the world’s first-ever live 8K immersive feeds. Cosm continued to partner with the top sporting events and leagues around the world before announcing its venture into shared reality, through its own venues. The first two were built in 2024 with two more on the way in 2025 and likely even more than that in the near future. These centers create experiences for guests through seats in a 360′ dome with a 5,000 square-foot display, 8K resolution, and nearly 30 million pixels to create something 10x brighter than any existing cinematic display.

As Cosm describes it, there is power to Shared Reality that differs from other forms of virtual reality in that it truly is meant to be a collective experience. Not only does Cosm and its Shared Reality technology give you a close-up view to the sporting event or concert you’re attending, but it does so alongside the individuals at the live event as well as those seated with you in the dome where you are experiencing it through the shared reality technologies. It creates an arena-like atmosphere no matter where you are and allows fans to experience raw emotion – the highs and lows – together with like-minded individuals. As Cosm notes, “Shared Reality is equal parts reality technology and convivial social experience. This is the future of immersive entertainment.”

“Cosm is redefining the future of fan experience,” said Alex Varga, Co-Head of Revenue, WWE, in the announcement. “WWE Premium Live Events are larger than life, and with such an innovative partner in Cosm, we will collectively bring the energy of our biggest moments to an expanded WWE universe.”
