From Megan Miller to Championship Match: WWE Career of Chelsea Green Comes Full Circle in Portland

Paging Dr. Miller…On Friday Night SmackDown, Chelsea Green made her return to Portland, a place that launched her WWE career over 10 years ago. As the champ reminded fans prior to the show, before she made her mark in WWE as Chelsea Green, she played a therapist named Megan Miller, who played a significant role in one of the company’s biggest storylines in 2014.

Chelsea Green Shows off Her Megan Miller Side in WWE Return in Portland

Megan Miller wasn’t around long in WWE, but in her brief go-round, she served as Daniel Bryan’s physical therapist who claimed to have slept with the married man. Of course, this was all part of Stephanie McMahon’s feud with Brie Bella, a side story to Triple H’s feud with Bryan, who was in the midst of his “B+ player” rise to the top. Bella slapped Miller and that was the end of that…until, Friday.

Showcasing yet another reason why she’s a rising star, Green filmed a video that she posted on social media that played off her old character. As she walked through the hallway, old friends greeted her, even making sure to let her know Brie Bella was nowhere around. Green looked confused before grabbing her jaw and rubbing it, a callback to Bella slapping her.

Then, later in the night, Green successfully defended her United States Championship against Michin, thanks to some distractions and a handful of tights. Classic Megan move, right there.

We all know wrestlers have pasts so for Green to not only acknowledge hers in WWE as Megan Miller, but also to have some fun with it and respect the canon, is something fans no doubt enjoyed. It’s part of what makes Green so special. She’s got a long history on WWE and she isn’t the only one. In 2005, Tommaso Ciampa debuted as Thomas Whitney, Esq, attorney for Muhammed Hassan, and who can forget Stan? Certainly not Shawn Michaels, who kicked the current NXT wrestler, Shawn Spears, back in 2006. As noted, these wrestlers have pasts and when they play into them, it just goes to show that kayfabe isn’t quite dead after all.
