In preparation for the January 6th premiere of Monday Night RAW on Netflix, WWE has instituted a major roster change. A couple of weeks ago, a WWE transfer window was announced, allowing wrestlers from RAW, SmackDown, and NXT to move brands.
By doing so, the fans are treated to fresh matchups, anticipated call-ups, and a great sense of unpredictability.
Wrestlers have already been in the background talking with both Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis about potentially switching brands, and it’s probably a hot topic of discussion with Ava down in NXT as well.
Braun Strowman came to SmackDown last Friday, and the first domino fell. In the end, the transfer window can benefit everyone in WWE.
New Matches Can Benefit a Faction Heavy Roster
One thing noticeable about the main roster in the Triple H era is that a ton of factions are walking around backstage. There’s the OG Bloodline, New Bloodline, Judgment Day, Final Testament, and Wyatt Sicks, among others.
Something I’ve always liked, whether it’s during the WWE draft or a trade, is that the factions themselves move brands. Doing so allows for more opportunities for first-time encounters and matches.
For example, if the OG Bloodline and Wyatt Sicks transfer brands, we could see Karrion Kross face Roman Reigns for the first time in years or the Wyatt Sicks feud with Solo Sikoa and the New Bloodline.
Multiple people have a history in the company that are separated because of the brand split. Having a transfer window could reignite storylines while creating new ones that will certainly entertain the fans.
Singles Wrestlers and Tag Teams Can Benefit as Well
The transfer window can also help the singles wrestlers and tag teams, which is why including NXT is a great idea. We’ve seen multiple people, such as Finn Balor and Ridge Holland, return to NXT and reinvent their careers.
They’ve put on great matches, sometimes even winning championships, while helping the next generation make a name for themselves. That helps not only them but also the wrestlers just starting out in Orlando.
There are also tons of singles and tag team wrestlers ready to make their debut on the main roster.
Could we see Ethan Page, Kelani Jordan, or Hank & Tank on RAW or SmackDown in the coming weeks?
I’m sure Pearce and Aldis have been keeping up with NXT and are looking to sign the next up-and-coming wrestler for their brand. Including NXT can help refresh both the singles and the tag team division in a big way.
The Transfer Window Can Change WWE for the Better
If everyone plays their cards right and makes good decisions, the transfer window can totally switch up WWE for the better. Established veterans can work with hungry rookies making their debut. Faction members or ex-partners could reunite, creating new stories.
Wrestlers could return to NXT and redefine their careers like so many have done before. If the transfer window moves successfully, there are endless possibilities that can play out.
The concept has created intrigue and anticipation among wrestlers and fans, especially those craving first-time matchups.
With only three weeks left until the first Monday Night RAW on Netflix, the transfer window is about to drastically change the makeup of WWE, leaving everyone wondering where the wrestlers will end up when their new era begins next year.
