Luke Jacobs Makes Hometown Return in Heated Tag Match
In what is likely to be the main event, the North West Strong boys return to their homeland for this huge tag team matchup. The Young Guns have lit a flame under British Wrestling for the past year with Luke Jacobs notably becoming an undisputed British champion back in August where he won and continues to hold both the PROGRESS Men’s World title and RevPro’s British Heavyweight title. This was followed closely by Ethan Allen who has had a breakout year with big wins under his belt.
However, Allen had kept out of PROGRESS business for some time but was pushed to breaking point when Jacobs had his toughest defense yet against Man Like Dereiss. Allen got himself involved last month saving both Jacobs and the title but Dereiss was not quick to forget and has recruited one of the fastest-rising stars in wrestling, Leon Slater, to join him and reunite Boisterous Behaviour to face the Young Guns. This should be a hard-hitting personal affair and perhaps give us a clue as to who could be next in line to challenge for Jacobs’ coveted title…
Cara Noir Takes on Charli Evans in PROGRESS’ First-Ever Intergender Singles Match
Noir has had an impressive run since his huge return back at the end of August after an almost career-ending injury that saw him out for over a year. This just may prove the first time he has a challenge that he may not be best placed to prepare for. Especially after facing his first loss against KENTA at Chapter 172, Noir must get his head back to the right place and Evans will be no easy challenge.
This will also be a historic match for PROGRESS, their first-ever intergender singles match. Charli Evans has a gritty no-nonsense style in the ring and, if Noir can match that intensity, this could be a classic. She told Fightful earlier this month that Manchester holds a huge place in her heart and winning this match nearly six years after her last bout in the city would mean the world to her.
Lykos Gym Makes Highly Anticipated UK Return
Two of the most loved stars on the British scene return from a tour that took them over the pond for two months but this return will not be an easy one. This will test what they’ve learned while overseas with a face-off against fast-rising pair Trew and Lacey looking to spoil their PROGRESS homecoming.
They make their first PROGRESS appearance since losing embarrassingly to Sunshine Machine back at Chapter 165 and will want to make amends this time around.
Plus: Tag Titles Defended, Mills Returns, Jayne Makes First Appearance After Rhio Loss and Much More
Elsewhere on the card, Smokin’ Aces off the back of a huge win against the Experience last time out will make their second tag title defense against Subculture. Subculture comes with momentum too beating the disjointed team of Eddie Dennis and Tate Mayfairs last month but with the Aces’ last wins coming from cheating, they will be undoubtedly wary coming into this one.
Talking of the Experience, LA Taylor and Skye Smitson will be looking to make up for their loss with a win against another disjointed team in the ever-charismatic pair Gene Munny and Session Moth Martina. Expect shenanigans in this one…
One of my most highly anticipated matches of the night comes in the form of Connor Mills vs Myles Kayman. Kayman has established himself this year as one of the top stars of NORTH Wrestling but after his last PROGRESS appearance ended in defeat at the hands of Luke Jacobs, he’ll still want to prove himself.
Mills has had a similarly impactful year, a breakout star in RevPro, and now wants to continue climbing the ranks in this match. Both have set sights on eventually winning the PROGRESS Men’s title and a win here could definitely give them some arguing power.
Finally, Emersyn Jayne returns to PROGRESS for the first time after a tough loss in one of my favorite matches this year against Rhio at Chapter 171. She faces a debuting Natalie Sykes who says Jayne is a “dream opponent”, the young Northerner will also be wanting to make an impression on the Manchester crowd.
But beyond the in-house crowd, she wants to shake up the whole division, when asked about her aims she replied: “Becoming a PROGRESS staple, proving I belong on the biggest platform, and of course dethroning Rhio to win the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship!”
