WWE SummerSlam: Who’s Poised to Make an In-Ring Return?

A photo of Alexa Bliss with The Fiend on WWE Raw, potential WWE SummerSlam 2024 suprises.

This year’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 has a stacked card. The feuds, such as Drew McIntyre and CM Punk, Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes, are intense. We know a lot is planned, but I’m sure there will also be plenty of surprises. I’ve previously written about possible celebrity appearances, but now we can discuss potential returns.

A few superstars are currently out with injuries, and some are due hopefully for a return soon. Where can these superstars fit in with storylines? Will they be able to pick up where they left off?

Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss has been out of action due to becoming pregnant with her now daughter, Hendrix. Her last match in WWE was at Royal Rumble 2023 against Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship before announcing her pregnancy. She gave birth to her baby girl towards the end of November 2023 and has remained on maternity leave.

Fans have been questioning when and how she will return. Bliss has teased her return on social media with videos of her training, showing that it can be expected soon. But the question is how she will return. Will she join The Wyatt Sicks or continue as a singles competitor?

From 2020-2021, Bliss was heavily involved in stories with ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt. This past with Wyatt is why the fans are convinced she will join The Wyatt Sicks. The Wyatt Sicks consists of Nikki Cross, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, Erick Rowan (former member of The Wyatt Family), and Bo Dallas, who is Wyatt’s real-life brother, or in this case, Uncle Howdy.

Their logo, which is presented as “Wyatt Sicks” and “Wyatt Six6,” shows how there is meant to be one more member in the group. One of the first QR codes presented to the audience back in April consisted of “UEDNJ51A,” which is supposedly the first letter of everyone in the faction—five members and one coming whose name begins with an ‘A.’

The only person who would make sense would be Bliss, considering her past with Wyatt. Her story with him also seemed unfinished before she left. Uncle Howdy stalked her before she left due to her pregnancy. Will she now join Uncle Howdy in the Wyatt Sicks? SummerSlam 2024 would be the perfect opportunity for her to make her grand return.

Jimmy Uso

The last time Jimmy Uso was seen on WWE TV was on Smackdown (4/12/2024), after his brother, Solo Sikoa, ruthlessly attacked him. He has been absent from television and is suffering from an actual injury. The type of injury has never been disclosed to the public, nor was the time it occurred, making it difficult for anyone to estimate when he would return.

Assuming the injury isn’t too severe, it would be nice to see his return soon, maybe even at SummerSlam 2024. With The Bloodline storyline heating up every week, now would be a perfect time for his return. It will be interesting to see where the story will go whenever he returns.

However, Uso can’t return alone to face Solo Sikoa, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu; they are all super powerful, and it would just be a repeat of what happened to Jimmy Uso in his last television appearance. So, who will Jimmy Uso align himself with? Even though Jey Uso has been fighting his own battles recently, this could be a perfect time for the reunion of The Usos.

Roman Reigns

We may see more than just a return of The Usos but the original Bloodline. Roman Reigns has been taking time off from the ring after losing the WWE Universal Championship to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40. This led to Sikoa becoming the new Tribal Chief and turning on Jimmy Uso.

While Reigns has been out of action, Sikoa has commented about him weekly. Stating that,

“This is not what I want, but this is what my family needed. Roman Reigns was not man enough to defend our title at WrestleMania. He was not man enough to defend our legacy against Cody Rhodes.”

Sikoa teases Reigns’ return every week by continuing to taunt him. His mention of Reigns challenges him to see who the true Tribal Chief is. But when will Reigns return?

It’s hard not to speculate that his return will be at SummerSlam 2024. This is because it is the largest premium live event of the summer, and Sikoa is challenging Rhodes for the WWE Championship. After everything Sikoa has been saying about Reigns in the past weeks, it would be surprising if Reigns didn’t return at SummerSlam.

Will Reigns help Rhodes retain his title? Will he reunite with The Usos to take on the new Bloodline?

WWE’s next two premium live events are Bash in Berlin on August 31 and Bad Blood on October 5. While I’m still determining what match the Bloodline would have at Bash in Berlin, Bad Blood 2024 would be perfect for either a Bloodline vs. Bloodline match or to see Sikoa vs. Reigns finally.

SummerSlam 2024 can be a great start to some historical stories with phenomenal matches. The action will occur this Saturday, August 3rd, at the Cleveland Browns Stadium.
