With a stellar Full Gear behind us, we now deal with the fallout on this week’s AEW Dynamite. The only thing officially advertised for the show is that Christian Cage will rechristen Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne. Though I’m sure it will be entertaining, I don’t know if I can get an entire article out of speculating what Christian will rename his sons. So, our focus will not be on the soon-to-be Luchasaurus Cage and Nicholas Wayne-Cage. Instead, we will focus on the Continental Classic set to kick off on this week’s AEW Dynamite!

- The first match of the Continental Classic will take place
The Continental Classic begins!
So far, we only know three participants in the twelve-man round-robin tournament. Those three men are Mark Briscoe, ROH World Champion and New Japan Strong Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston, and Bryan Danielson. We also know that Kingston will defend his championships in every match he’s in, so AEW will have their first triple crown champion.
While all of that should lead to excitement, it’s hard to anticipate a tournament where over half the field has yet to be announced. I love AEW and reflect that in every article I write, but this is a tough decision to defend. Normally, I would say maybe Tony Khan has a major surprise up his sleeve, but the company has announced they’ll be releasing the entire field on YouTube. This tournament will create stellar action and lead to a monumental moment in AEW history, but waiting so late to announce the participants is strange.
Regardless of the field, AEW has always delivered on match quality. Given that the field should include the best of AEW, ROH, and even New Japan, they may deliver on the promise of this becoming the most illustrious tournament in professional wrestling.
