WWE NXT Recap (10/3/23) – “Dirty” Dom Regains NXT North American Championship

Dominik Mysterio and The Judgment Day on WWE NXT.

WWE NXT this week was primarily focused on the fallout from No Mercy, as expected. This show also began the build-up to the Halloween Havoc specials set to take place in the final two weeks of October. This show also set up the October 10 edition of NXT, which is slated to be a major event. Here are the main talking points from the October 3 NXT.

Dominik Mysterio Gets To Go Back Home With Rhea Ripley

‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio managed to get an immediate rematch against newly-minted champion, Trick Williams, thanks to Women’s World Champion, Rhea Ripley. Mysterio was alone for his match against Williams at No Mercy but, on the October 3 edition of NXT, he had Ripley (and The Judgement Day) backing him up.

This was ultimately the game-changer as Williams had declined Carmelo Hayes‘ offer to corner him, which led to a situation where the champion was heavily outnumbered. With all the distractions and tactics, Mysterio regained the North American Championship, ending Williams’ reign at just three days. The Judgement Day looks as united as ever, as all members hold gold once again.

Big Time Becks Lays Down The Challenge

Despite not being medically cleared to compete at the moment, Becky Lynch began making plans for night one of Halloween Havoc. Three women made their claims for the title opportunity on the October 24 NXT but, to get there, they needed to first get through the other potential challengers.

Namely, the three were Lyra Valkyria, Roxanne Perez, and Indi Hartwell. It was a hard-fought contest but Valkyria would come out successful. As Valkyria and Lynch were having a face-off, number one contender Tegan Nox made her presence felt, a reminder to the champion that she still has another challenger before she can even look toward Halloween Havoc.

A Major October 10 NXT Show

The biggest story coming out of the October 3 NXT is the throw-forward to what will happen on the October 10 show. In addition to NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch’s appearances on WWE NXT, more main roster superstars will be on the next NXT show.

The longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion, Asuka, will be in a first-time match against Roxanne Perez. Carmelo Hayes and Bron Breakker will reignite their rivalry in a heavily-anticipated match-up, with Hayes having the ‘Greatest of all Time’ John Cena in his corner.

To combat that, Paul Heyman has been tasked by ‘The Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns to be in Breakker’s corner. In addition to that, Cody Rhodes is also set to make an appearance with a major announcement.
