Match Point is an ongoing series at Last Word on Pro Wrestling, where we look at intriguing matchups in indie wrestling and beyond. They may be dream matches, first-time matchups, or hotly anticipated rematches. This week’s edition dives into the 1 Contender’s match between Deonna Purrazzo and Masha Slamovich, where the winner will face Jordynne Grace at Bound for Glory with the IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts World Championship up for grabs on October 6.
The IMPACT Knockouts World Championship picture has needed a jolt of energy since the summer began, and with the new influx of names rising up the ranks like Masha Slamovich and Killer Kelly, things will become even more exciting soon within the women’s division of IMPACT Wrestling. Deonna Purrazzo has shifted her attention towards Knockouts tag team gold but being champion should be on the mind of every roster member.

Masha Slamovich vs. Deonna Purrazzo
What to Know Regarding Future Knockouts Match
Masha Slamovich staked her claim following the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship match at Emergence from earlier this month by sending a message to Jordynne Grace with a death note and her unbeaten streak has been rising. Notable names of the unbeaten streak have included Gisele Shaw, Tenille Dashwood, Madison Rayne, and Jessicka Havok. In order for Slamovich to reach her goal of becoming Knockouts World Champion, former 2x Knockouts World Champion and one-half of the current Knockouts World Tag Team Champions Deonna Purrazzo will be standing as the obstacle heading into the next month.
Purrazzo is coming off a successful first attempt at the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship win alongside her best friend, Chelsea Green, at the Emergence event and pinned the current Knockouts World Champion Grace in tag team action on IMPACT television recently, so she’ll be heading into this match with confidence. Both women aren’t strangers to facing each other in IMPACT Wrestling; their first encounter last October at Knockouts Knockdown was received with very positive praise from around the women’s wrestling industry.
Masha Slamovich was immediately signed to IMPACT Wrestling following the match and has taken the division to a whole different level 1 year later. The rematch has been almost a year in the making, but IMPACT Wrestling has done a fantastic job keeping both women busy onscreen before revisiting this one. The fanbase is certainly looking forward to what happens next in the Knockouts division.
