Preview: AEW Dynamite Card (8/17/22) – House of The Dragon Special

AEW House of the Dragon

After a momentous Quake By The Lake week,  All Elite Wrestling brings on the fire with another special edition of AEW Dynamite, hosted by House of The Dragon. Last week’s episode brought the action to a maximum with a brutal Coffin Match between Darby Allin and Brody King, and an outstanding AEW Interim World Title bout between Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho. The night was capped off by the return of AEW World Champion CM Punk, communicating to the Interim World Championship holder that he’s ready to take back his spot atop the AEW mountain undisputed.

AEW will not give its #AllElite fans a moment to breathe as this week on Dynamite, the quarterfinals of the AEW Trios Championship Tournament begins. The number one contender for the AEW Women’s World Championship will be in action. Plus, “The American Dragon” looks to prove once and for all he’s the best technical wrestler walking the planet as he goes one on one against the self-proclaimed “Dragonslayer.”

Let’s get the ball rolling, It’s Wednesday night after all, and you know what that means. Time for some AEW Dynamite. Let’s run down the AEW Dynamite card.

  • Best 2 Out Of Three Falls Match: Bryan Danielson vs. Daniel Garcia

Trios Turmoil

The AEW Trios Championship Tournament begins as Andrade El IdoloRUSH, and the debuting Dragon Lee will take on The Young Bucks and a mystery partner in a quarterfinals matchup. El Idolo made it explicitly clear last week that he wants Los Ingobernables to be the first-ever Trios Champions once the tournament is all done and dusted.

The former AFO leader even went as far as discrediting his old members, due to them failing to win the gold that constantly eludes the Hispanic phenom. Andrade is hellbent on securing the big one this time as he enlists the help of his trusted allies of many years RUSH and Dragon Lee.

On the other side of this matchup is The Young Bucks. After getting betrayed by the Undisputed Elite and Hangman Page declining their offer to be their third man, Matt and Nick Jackson will need to look high and low for a formidable ally to fight alongside them. Fortunately, it seems like they’ve secured a worthy cohort to aid them in this tourney. The Bucks have made a lot of enemies and not enough friends over the past year. Leading many to question; who is willing to stand by The Young Bucks’ side?

May The Best Man Win

Daniel Garcia looks to defeat Bryan Danielson once again, not once but twice on the same night, as they face off in a Best 2 Out of 3 Falls Match. “Red Death” played spoiler, as he convincingly defeated Danielson in the “American Dragon’s” return match to AEW after his injury. On last week’s AEW Rampage, the two combatants had a few choice words for one another. The conversation concluded with no man backing down and only one thing on their minds; settling the debate of who truly is the best.

Danielson has been one of the most technically-gifted and sound professional wrestlers over the past two decades. Some may even consider Bryan the best of all time. It’s no wonder that Garcia patterned his game after him and is looking to surpass him as the best technical wrestler today. While Garcia is amazing and advanced for his age, Danielson will not let up on his quest for violence.

Will Daniel Garcia beat the technical maestro twice in a row? Or will Bryan Danielson prove to everyone why he’s still the best? Find out this Wednesday night live on the “mother base” TBS!
