Preview: WWE Raw (3/7/22) – Edge Explains His Actions

WWE Raw Edge

We are now less than a month away from WrestleMania and we seem to have a nearly full card for both big nights from AT&T Stadium. However, tonight we have Monday Night Raw from the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. A very well-known venue for the WWE, it was formally named the Gund Arena & the Quicken Loans Arena. It is the very building where Vince McMahon announced his buyout of World Championship Wrestling and several months later, would also house the InVasion pay-per-view event. It also saw the start of Stone Cold Steve Austin’s second WWF title reigns, defeating Kane for it in the main event of Raw, just one day removed from the famous King Of The Ring show that saw Kane dethrone him in a First Blood match and the famous Mankind vs Undertaker Hell In A Cell match. Take a look at what to expect on tonight’s WWE Raw, featuring Edge, a returning Jerry “The King” Lawler, and more.

WWE Raw (3/7/22) – Full Preview

The Hometown Heroes’ Homecoming

Logan Paul is jokingly referred to as the ‘Pride Of Dorado, Puerto Rico’ (Damian Priest’s hometown) after moving there for the sake of a tax haven. However, ‘The Maverick’ is actually born and raised in nearby Westlake, Ohio. His tag team partner for Wrestlemania Saturday, The Miz, is of course well-known for being a Cleveland boy.

The duo look to celebrate their return home prior to their tag team match against The Mysterios, Dominik & Rey Mysterio. We’ve seen Miz recently in segments involving wedding vow renewals, birthdays, and now, a homecoming. Expect shenanigans involving the four.

Edge Explains Himself

Last week’s WWE Raw concluded with the setup for a dream match-up featuring Edge. “The Rated R Superstar” laid out an open challenge for WrestleMania, but no one seemed to be answering. After much frustration, AJ Styles was the one to throw his name into the hat, which seemed to satisfy Edge. However, anger overcame the Hall of Famer. Suddenly, the man that liked to talk about “grit” and working his way back was replaced with the violent, “do-anything-possible to win” “Rated R Superstar” we came to know from 2006 to 2010 for seemingly no reason.

Now tonight on Raw, it seems the 2-time Royal Rumble winner will look to explain himself. What exactly caused him to snap at a man who seemingly did nothing to him? Hopefully, it’s not “I don’t need to explain myself.” More importantly, how will AJ Styles retaliate after the unprovoked attack? Expect to see Edge and Styles on this week’s WWE Raw.

A Weirdly Built-Up Tag Team Title Match

For three weeks, this Raw Tag Team title match has been promoted. We’ve been seeing Alpha Academy and RK Bro going back and forth now for months. In spite of winning the Academic Challenge, the duo of Seth Rollins & Kevin Owens appeared as spoilers and were inserted into what was originally the rematch for Randy Orton & Riddle.

We can go many directions here. Rollins & Owens may walk out as champions, throwing a monkey wrench into any rumors of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin being Kevin Owens’ opponent for WrestleMania, as well as rumors of Cody Rhodes being Rollins’ opponent. It would also open up the possibility of seeing the break-up of RK Bro and adding another match for WrestleMania in the form of Randy Orton vs Riddle.

Something may also unfold warranting a WrestleMania rematch involving the three teams; maybe a fourth team (Street Profits?). We’ll have to wait and see the direction we go.

Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler Returns & More

For untold reasons, Jerry Lawler is slated to appear tonight on Raw. While nothing has been announced we have to expect there will be fallout to Finn Balor defeating Damian Priest for the United States Championship, which prompted Priest to attack the crowd verbally and Balor physically. Will he get his rematch at WrestleMania?

After returning at Elimination Chamber, Alexa Bliss was oddly absent last week. Weirdly enough, that show took place in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Will she be back tonight? What will Queen Zelina & Carmella do en route to their Women’s Tag Team Championship defense against Naomi & Sasha Banks at WrestleMania? What of Bianca Belair en route to her big time rematch with ‘Big Time Becks’ for the Raw Women’s title at Wrestlemania Saturday?
