In a truly shocking announcement, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has announced via Twitter that former NXT UK Women’s Champion and SmackDown superstar Toni Storm has been released from her contract with the company. Though initial details are pretty discrete and it is not our place to speculate on the situation involving Toni, it does appear to be that she has officially departed the WWE.
Fightful has been informed Toni Storm is gone from WWE.

Storm made her first appearance for the WWE way back in 2017, as a part of the inaugural Mae Young Classic Tournament. She shone in the tournament – making it to the semi-final stage, before being eliminated by eventual winner and fellow WWE departee, Kairi Sane. Then just 21 years of age, it was clear to all that Toni was – and still is – a very bright talent whose ability is far beyond her age, even today.
Spells in various companies around the world, including World Wonder Ring Stardom, would eventually lead Toni to NXT UK – where she would become the second ever NXT UK Women’s Champion, defeating inaugural champion Rhea Ripley.
A spell in NXT, where she memorably worked as a heel – a brave decision, given her natural babyface potential – would finally lead to a SmackDown debut in July of this year. Her time on the main roster was questionable as, immediately after debuting in a winning effort over Zelena Vega, she would disappear for weeks – appearing sporadically from then on, before finally becoming number 1 contender to Charlotte Flair‘s WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship this month. Though she lost the feud, she was booked strong as a worthy opponent to the seasoned Flair.
Wherever she goes next, there is full confidence that Toni will shine and outwork almost anyone. We wish her all the best for the future.
