On October 30, 2021, The Wrestling Revolver – the Iowa promotion run by IMPACT Wrestling‘s Sami Callihan – is set to make its return to live events since their February 2020 event, Valentine’s Day Massacre. Like many indie promotions around the world, Revolver shut down live events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In preparation for Tales From The Ring, which airs live on FITE.tv the night before Halloween, Revolver initially announced one of the most anticipated indie reunions since Dean Ambrose returned to being Jon Moxley, that of the partnership of Moxley and Sami Callihan, Switchblade Conspiracy, that ran through Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and Germany’s Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw), capturing tag team gold in Europe with wXw and holding them for 310-days. Switchblade Conspiracy – which also featured Joe Gacy (now of NXT 2.0) – ran from 2009 until 2011, just before Moxley headed to WWE to begin his tenure as “The Lunatic Fringe”. During their time together, Moxley held his second CZW World Championship (for 182-days).

Unfortunately, that reunion has had to be put on hold, as news broke that Sami Callihan had badly injured his ankle at the most recent IMPACT tapings and had surgery that will keep him out of action until early 2022. With Jon Moxley without his tag partner, Revolver quickly announced it would become an Open Challenge from Moxley to fight anyone in the world. Well, on Saturday night, that Open Challenge got its answer – and like Nick Gage before him, it’s another unresolved blood feud from his pre-WWE life coming back for more, in the form of Jimmy Jacobs, who had a hellacious feud with Jon Moxley in Dragon Gate USA in 2010.

In March of 2010, Moxley – partnered with Brian Kendrick – faced off against Jimmy Jacobs (with Paul London) in tag team action at DGUSA Open The Ultimate Gate in Arizona, with Moxley and Kendrick scoring the win. But after that, Moxley and Jacobs exploded on each other and went on a vicious string of three matches that pushed each other to the limits. At DGUSA Uprising that May, Moxley bested Jacobs in a No-DQ match, followed by Moxley winning again in a Street Fight at DGUSA Untouchable in Chicago that September. But in the final battle – an “I Quit” match – it was Jacobs who finally humbled Moxley at DGUSA Bushido in October (almost 11 years to the date of Tales from the Ring). The feud wasn’t just contained to Dragon Gate USA – in January of 2011, Jacobs added insult to injury, winning Moxley’s Insanity Pro Wrestling (IPW) Championship that Mox had held for nearly 300-days.
In his promo to Moxley, Jacobs decreed the following:
“Let it go. It’s been over a decade. It’s been over ten years since Jacobs and Moxley had one of the wildest feuds in independent wrestling. Street fights. Dog collar match. I quit match. But after that, we took our separate paths. I created magic behind the scenes and you became the Lunatic Fringe. Despite that, despite the success, the millions, the wife, the kid, you still want to get down and dirty. You still want to step into the arena of violence where we play for keeps. For some reason. What’s wrong with you?
See, me, I have a nice, cushy job. I never need to wrestle again. Do I want to step into that same arena where you know you’re going to bleed and make somebody else bleed? Where the smell of blood is so thick you can taste it. Do I want that? You’re damn right I do! Mox, you got an open challenge on October 30th, Wrestling Revolver, well, I’m interested. Moxley, I’ve heard you bitching so much about how you didn’t like the creative in WWE, and for some reason, I take offence to that. Well, I’m going to give you some creative you can dig when I dig this 8-inch nail inside your skull. I’m going to get real creative when I use your body as a canvas and your blood as the paint. Jacobs. Moxley. One more time! I want to taste your blood, Jon. In case you’ve forgotten, I’m a Princess, I always get what I fucking want.”
