Winning the Intercontinental Championship

The first step may sound challenging given the massive field of competitors currently hovering around the title, but Je’Von Evans needs to win the Intercontinental Championship eventually.
He is just one step away from achieving this milestone, but he must first win the Gauntlet match this Monday on Raw to become the number one contender. While it would be incredible to see him win, WWE appears to be setting the stage for Chad Gable to take the victory, setting up a match against Penta in Gable’s hometown of Minneapolis at SummerSlam.
In the event that he loses the Gauntlet match, Je’Von Evans can use the setback to develop a sharper edge to his character as his desperation to win WWE gold finally grows even stronger.
Turning him heel would not be a good idea, but having him experience these kinds of heartbreaks while consistently putting on classic performances and coming up just short will make his eventual title win that much sweeter. As long as Evans captures the gold by the end of the year, WWE will be on the right track.
A High-Profile Feud With Drew McIntyre
Once Je’Von Evans does inevitably win the Intercontinental Championship, WWE could do something bold. Following several weeks of Evans successfully defending the title in a series of open challenges on Raw, Drew McIntyre could confront him, demanding a title opportunity.
While it might not make complete sense at the moment, given that McIntyre is still a part of SmackDown, a jump to Raw would be the perfect move for the “Scottish Warrior.” McIntyre could explain that following his loss to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania, he needed time away from the ring for a hard reset and a chance to re-evaluate things.
He ultimately decided that his path back to the top meant returning to WWE to chase the very title he first won in his career back at the 2009 TLC pay-per-view: the Intercontinental Championship. The two could collide in a pair of high-profile matches on PLEs, with the first being a standard one-on-one contest and the second escalating into a grueling Three Stages of Hell match.

McIntyre would naturally feel he has the advantage in a Three Stages of Hell match, given that this exact stipulation helped him beat Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship earlier this year. While this feud would keep a major star like McIntyre heavily featured, it also has the potential to do wonders for elevating Evans.
Ultimately, WWE has an incredible opportunity on its hands with a talent like Je’Von Evans. It is rare for a company to find someone with his level of skill at such a young age, and WWE cannot afford to waste his potential.
Rather than treating Je’Von Evans as a second-fiddle act who is occasionally brought out just for his high-flying ability, creative needs to build around him. He deserves to be treated as a true pillar of the company’s future, right alongside rising stars like Oba Femi, Trick Williams, and Sol Ruca.
