WWE and AAA Crossover to Expand More This Summer

It is looking like Lucha Libre AAA and the three WWE brands are expected to have many crossovers this summer.

Things kicked off on this past Saturday’s edition of Lucha Libre AAA, where Lola Vice would successfully defend her NXT Women’s Championship against La Hiedra. But it seems that this was only the beginning of more to come.

AAA/WWE Crossover in Full Swing

As announced at WWE NXT: The Great American Bash, there will be two AAA vs. NXT matches on this Tuesday’s episode of NXT.

The first will be Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes of the Vanity Project putting their NXT Tag Team Championships on the line against AAA’s El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. and his brother, Galeno del Mal.

The second AAA vs. NXT match announced for this Tuesday’s episode is AAA’s El Hijo del Vikingo defending his AAA Latin American Championship against EK Prosper. This title defense will be Vikingo’s first defense of the title since he won the belt against El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. at AAA Noche de Los Grandes last month.

Along with these two match announcements, it was also announced that on Sunday, August 30th, there will be a double taping of Lucha Libre AAA and the NXT Heatwave PLE at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas. With AAA and NXT being held in the same arena on that day, it would not be surprising if Heatwave were to feature a lot of crossover with the AAA wrestlers.

As AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio announced two weeks ago, AAA plans to ramp up partnerships with Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown, and NXT and increase collaboration with those brands, with wrestlers crossing over between the four shows.

The stronger relationship between AAA and the Friday Night SmackDown brand was also shown on this past week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown, as Rey Fenix successfully defended his AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Nathan Frazer.

While there has been some crossover between AAA and WWE in the last year, it seems that WWE will be going all in with them, as they attempt to expand the growth and popularity of the Lucha Libre AAA subsidiary in the United States over the summer.

It will be interesting to see how WWE incorporates the Lucha Libre AAA subsidiary more with the rest of the WWE world over the summer, as things also continue to build and ramp up for AAA’s two-night Triplemania, which will be coming up on Friday, September 11th, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sunday, September 13th, in Mexico City, Mexico.

While it has been announced that the AAA Mega Championship match will be exclusive to Night Two of Triplemania 34 in Mexico City, Night One of the event in Las Vegas might take advantage of the huge crossovers. It could build to be another exciting Worlds Collide-type of event, much like WWE and AAA had last year, with both of those events in June and September.

How to Watch WWE In Every Country It’s Available (UPDATED – June 27, 2026)

The Lucha Libre and American wrestling crossovers over the last year between WWE and AAA, as well as the partnership between AEW and CMLL, have been shown to be really successful. It is not surprising to see that there will be more emphasis on expanding the popularity of a style that is as legendary as the wrestling style of lucha libre.

With many big events, such as Saturday Night’s Main Event in Madison Square Garden, Verano de Escandalo, and SummerSlam coming up, it would not be surprising to see the crossovers increase to build up each of these big shows over the next month, as well as on Raw, SmackDown, and NXT.
