WWE NXT Review (5/5/26) – Destruction Time

Tony D’Angelo vs. Tavion Heights

Tony D’Angelo shone in his one-on-one match against Tavion Heights, but a target remains on his back. A technical showcase early on, D’Angelo couldn’t out-mat-wrestle the former Olympian as the bout devolved into a slugfest. The two Superstars traded remarkable Suplexes.

Kam Hendrix tried to interfere and was chased off by North American Champion Myles Borne. Unfortunately for Heights, he was distracted by the chaos and fell victim to a Dead to Rights. After the match, Will Kroos, now Mason Rook, destroyed both Heights and D’Angelo. Yes, Mason Rook has arrived, and he will make no prisoners.

Nygma Says

Zaria said NXT feels different and there’s some change in the air. The episode was the absolute demonstration of her words. But, in this case, it became pretty disturbing. New faces, new names, new challengers, new contenders: that’s a lot in just a few weeks. This NXT episode was disturbing because it went everywhere and nowhere at once. The “kids” just arrived, we barely know them, we barely saw them compete, and they became contenders in like a nanosecond.

Tony D’Angelo, Lola Vice, Myles Borne, and Tatum Paxley now have a slew of contenders, ok. The Tag Tag division remains an issue. As a huge fan of Chyna, seeing Myka Lockwood as a kind of “clone” of Chyna was scary because there will never be another Chyna. Well, this new era of NXT is as exciting as it can be surprising. I’ll see you next week as I keep on exploring the NXT world through the NXTNA “cold war.” Till then, may the Nygma be with you.
