AEW Collision Preview (5/9/26) – Fairway to Hell

This Saturday, AEW Collision will be a 1one-hour “Fairway to Hell” from the Gold Capital, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Following this Wednesday’s three-hour AEW Dynamite/Collision special, this bite-sized one-hour showcase is shaping up to be an interesting new named event.

With two big championship matches and another set of champions in action in The Divine Dominion, this has the potential to be a short but potent classic. We’ll see if this new AEW special event becomes a calendar fixture.

After this week’s AEW Dynamite, it seems Kris Statlander and Hiraku Shida might once again step up to the plate to take on the AEW Women’s World Tag Team champions. Although no opponents have been announced, an indicator that we’re in for a squash match, it doesn’t mean the display won’t be impressive.

Fans are still learning more about Lena Kross and her capabilities. Alongside being entertaining in showing off the victor’s character, such squashes are usually preludes to angles. Megan Bayne and Kross have already defeated Shida and Statlander due to the Japanese Ace’s miscommunication and overeagerness. On the other hand, if Shida and Statlander are on the same page, or the stakes get escalated to a match involving weapons, the Goddess figures of the Divine Dominion might be about to crumble.

On Saturday, May 9, AEW Collision is a Fairway to Hell, with Jack Perry putting the National Championship on the line against Mark Davis (AEW)

AEW National Championship

Jungle Jack Perry looks to make defence number four of his AEW National Championship. Perry faces a man he previously defeated on AEW Dynasty’s pre-show in his first title defence. A lot has changed for both men since then.

For starters, Mark Davis has been on a physical tear. Decimating and butchering enemies of the Don Callis Family, Dunkzilla scored his biggest singles victory against Will Ospreay last month. It might have been through referee stoppage, and Ospreay is struggling post-surgery, but the truth remains clear. Likewise, so it seems is Ospreay’s destiny for All In 2026. Davis is a physical, dominating, and destructive brute capable of dismantling opponents.

Already an AEW World Trios champion briefly in 2026, will the Australian behemoth capture his first piece of AEW singles gold?

However, it’s hard to overlook Perry’s past. With three highlight reel defences, the latter two against similar high-flying and quick-moving foils, Perry’s speed, ingenuity, and determination could be enough to carry him to victory.

Riding the Jurassic Express from town to town, the champion has momentum. Yet if Davis stands in front of that bus, which side is going to come out worst for wear? Who comes away with the gold?

AEW World Championship

Just days removed from defending the AEW World Championship against The Jet Kevin Knight on AEW Dynamite/Collision, Darby Allin defends the title again against another former adversary. Although after evening the score with Kevin Knight, can the daredevil cope with the Bastard’s brutality?

PAC is a brute, unlike many others. As a character in AEW, few men are scarier. Few men are as knowledgeable, precise, and sadistic in delivering pain as PAC. Of all the members of Death Riders, PAC was the last one Allin had to beat to become ready to challenge for the AEW World Championship.

Coming full circle, but also carrying recent marks and bruises of weekly defences, can Allin overcome the odds again? Will Allin show that he’s learned from history? And if he can overcome the Bastard, what shape will he be in for this week’s Dynamite, where he is supposed to defend against Kazuchika Okada?
