The past couple of weeks have not been good for Sami Zayn. Going into WrestleMania: Vegas, he was the WWE United States Champion. Unfortunately, he was being pursued by Trick Williams. In addition, Carmelo Hayes wanted his title back. Hayes failed to retain, meaning Zayn vs. Williams was set for Vegas. Williams won the US title and, ever since then, has made Zayn’s life miserable in several different ways.
One of the things he’s done is bring to life a Gingerbread Man. Obviously mocking Zayn’s hair, he and Lil Yachty made and released a song called “Gingerbread Man” and have brought him along with them. Two weeks ago, Gingerbread Man was attacked by Zayn, with him being the costumed character himself last Friday. How would he interfere with Zayn’s dealings with Williams this week?
Gingerbread Man Says Goodbye Due to Sami Zayn’s Attack
Most people might think Williams and Zayn’s feud has been nonsensical. However, many silly things in wrestling have worked over the years. The Gingerbread Man is one of those things that does work. It’s not a silly catchphrase or a tiny cookie that gets eaten after the segment is over. Williams actually brought a man out in a Gingerbread Man costume two weeks ago. The realism made Sami Zayn angry, which intensified the feud.
Having him dress up in the costume was very entertaining, as he acknowledged himself as the joke. But on the May 1, 2026 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, he decided that the joke was over. He came out to a crowd that still booed and disrespected him. But he wasn’t angry because he knew his true fans were out there. Looking at the Gingerbread Man costume, he said it represented Williams as a man with a costume.
He told the fans that everything he does can be easily done by anyone, such as getting good music, dancing, and saying catchphrases. Then he said that he had worked hard for several years. Turning to the Gingerbread Man, he acknowledged that it represented Williams not taking anyone seriously. He then shook the costume’s hand before kicking it in the groin area. Multiple rounds of punches were thrown before its left arm and top button were ripped off.
Williams then came out and brawled with him. After Zayn rolled out of the ring before the Trick Shot was delivered, he looked over the Gingerbread Man and gave the X symbol. It was later announced that a funeral for it would be held next week. Even though the Gingerbread Man may be gone, the feud between Williams and Sami Zayn is still ongoing.
