Ronda Rousey to Return to Fighting on Netflix

Former WWE Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will return to action for a big-money match on Netflix.

Rousey will face fellow women’s MMA pioneer Gina Carano. Rousey will meet Carano inside a hexagon cage on May 16, 2026.

The five 5-minute rounds bout will stream live on Netflix from the Inuit Dome in Los Angeles, CA, and be professionally sanctioned under the Unified Rules of MMA. Both fighters will use 4-ounce gloves and have to make a 145-pound weight limit.

MMA Legends Hiatuses Ends

It will be Rousey’s first professional MMA fight since UFC 207 in 2016, where she lost to Amanda Nunes. Rousey pivoted to the world of sports entertainment with a much-anticipated move to WWE.

Rousey debuted at the 2018 Royal Rumble and went on to hold the WWE Raw women’s title for 231 days. During her time in WWE, Rousey also held the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship and the women’s Tag Team Championship.

She left WWE after a WWE SummerSlam loss to Shayna Baszler. Since leaving the company, Rousey criticised both WWE and Vince McMahon.

It will be Carano’s first MMA fight in 17 years. Like Rousey, Carano turned to the entertainment industry after she left MMA. After roles in Fast & Furious 6 and Deadpool, Carano landed a major part in The Mandalorian. Carano was fired from the Disney + series following controversial social media posts.

Meanwhile, this week EVE: Riot Grrrls of Wrestling sold out its upcoming Wrestle Queendom 8 show at London’s o2. Wrestle Queendom 8 will be the largest independent all-women’s wrestling show in European history.
